Question

Hello, I have a recent problem when downloading executable files. After downloading them via Firefox, I try to extract the files in the zipped folder. But it shows: "Windows has determined that this file is potentially dangerous. To help protect your computer, Windows has blocked access to this file." I have allowed the download address as an exception for the firewall, but that is not enough. I then completely disconnected the firewall... still nothing. And finally, I disabled Avast... still nothing!! If anyone can suggest something... Thanks in advance

Save the file with the .zip suffix on the desktop. Right-click on it and compress it again. Then extract it. And there you go!

Do you have account control enabled? And Windows Defender? I think your problem comes from there! But if you have that warning... be cautious!!

Hi Homer S, when you talk about "account control activated," do you mean that I am the administrator of the only profile on my computer? I don't have Bitdefender.

It might be Windows Defender that is causing the problem because I can't open it! I receive this message: "Failed to initialize the application: 0x800106ba." Even after restarting the computer, this message still appears.

Sorry, I didn't do solution n°3. While doing it, it appears that for the following files the message "module loading failed" appears regsvr32 Wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 Wuweb.dll regsvr32 ATL.DLL regsvr32 Wintrust.dll regsvr32 initpki.dll  but there is nothing mentioned in the link to fix this
