Wii sensor bar replaced by candles

Question

Hello,
I came across quite a few videos of guys playing the Wii, and instead of their sensor bar, they have 2 candles. I wanted to know if this is fake or what, all the videos I've found are in English, so if someone could either explain this to me, or give me a link to this, with a video in French, or an article in French

Hi,

No, they're not fakes.
In fact, the sensor bar does not communicate with the console. The cord is just there to power it. The sensor bar emits infrared rays (you can see them by looking at them with a smartphone camera, for example).
The infrared LEDs are used by the controllers only to locate themselves in space.

Fire also emits infrared radiation in addition to visible light. Two candles can therefore replace a sensor bar and also allow the controllers to locate themselves in space.

Hello everyone,

After having a big issue this morning with our Wii controllers and finding a rather original solution, our little family wanted to share it with all the unfortunate players who wake up in the morning to find their controller is out of order :)

So this morning, after several months of inactivity, the kids turned on the Wii and realized that while the controller worked, the pointer no longer functioned at all! They had to hold the controller horizontally just to see the pointer.
Battery change (even though the controllers are on chargers, but you never know), re-synchronization, unplugging - re-plugging and even the "oh ultimate" turning off the internet connection (when darling sees this…)
In short, nothing worked... it still doesn't function!
Strange indeed, we used the Wii two months ago and it was working perfectly, and now it doesn't work at all even though we haven't touched it... except that... mom (yes, me) remembers dropping the sensor while cleaning... (oh dear)
Apparently, the problem comes from that.
So after rummaging around on the internet and reading more...
Replace your sensor with... a candle! Or even 2 if you have a large screen, it works very well and the kids are happy.

Wow, that's crazy! But I'm sure it works! :-D

I thought the sensor bar was used to indicate to the Wii the position of the Wiimote... The Wiimote does everything by itself! I'm going to tell my friends about this!

The only thing with candles is when all the wax has melted. (or when the fire just caught the living room carpet, oh no...)
