Open Word document in Open Office Solved

Question

Hello,  I currently have Open Office and I would like to read and edit Word documents with it.  I have searched several forums for a solution but found no answer.  Thank you in advance

Hi,

You open "Open Writer" and you can work on your Word documents
But be careful!
You need to save documents using "save as" and choose "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc)" in the dropdown so that if you send the document to someone else, they can open it as long as they only have Word

All Word documents can be read and modified by Open Office
All Open documents can be read by Word if you follow the steps described above, but they cannot be modified!!
