Hello,
I have a text in InDesign, I want to start a new line, but as soon as I do, all the text jumps and it seems like there isn’t enough space (see the little red cross...). I restarted the software, but nothing works...
Thank you for your help

What key do you use to make a line break?

I still don't understand this response
As soon as I skip a line, my text disappears....even more so in another text area (i.e. small red cross)

Your problem: line return.
You must be working on a laptop with a numeric keypad.
The answer here:

Unlock the NumLock key on your keypad.

Thank you for this answer!
The num-lock locked under Indesign transforms the line break with Enter into a page break.

Hello,

Apparently, your blocks are not linked. Before inserting your text, at the location of the small red cross, there is a small blue square; click on it with the black arrow (you will see the missing text in small) and then click on the next page in the same square at the top left.
I'm saying this after having tried it, but well, I'm not an InDesign pro...

I use the enter key
I didn't fully understand the story about the chain, when I click on the blue thing I see some kind of coiled thing... my problem is that to skip lines in a block of text I've had to create 4 text areas that I place one below the other because it's buggy for skipping lines...

Hello,
Is your text aligned with the baseline grid?
The last hidden character of your text block is indeed: a # (End of text)?

Hello,

Space before or after the paragraph?

Window > Text and tables > Paragraph

See you!

Try taking a screenshot of your Text Block with

• showing hidden characters (>ALT+CTRL+I (or Text>Show hidden characters))
• the Control panel (with paragraph formatting commands displayed -¶-)
• place your cursor in the paragraph

…otherwise there’s also the help from InDesign… (we’ve all been there).
