Hello,
I would like to know how to format my Acer Aspire 5315 laptop?
Please respond to me as I found nothing written about this in the user manual and I really need it.
Thank you in advance.

First, you need to back up your documents, photos, and videos to D: Acer data, or to a USB or other storage device. Then turn off your PC, disconnect it, and restart it. As soon as you see the ACER logo, press ALT + F10. This will open the eRecovery window. The default password is 000000, six zeros using the numeric keypad. Then choose "restore action" and select "restore to factory settings." Let it run without touching anything until the end; there’s no need to enter your license key again.
After that, restore your connection, reinstall an antivirus (uninstall the other one first), and immediately check for updates via Windows updates.
    See you later!

First of all, it's kind of you to respond to me.
All I can tell you is that I want to reset my PC, restore it to new condition like when I bought it.
    Sorry, I can't specify better... ^^
    Thanks in advance.

      Good evening Stéphanie,
To restore your ACER to factory settings, you need eRecovery to do this. Check if you have a folder named ACER and eRecovery.exe inside. You should also have a Help file where everything is explained. Additionally, take a look at this link: http://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/...
      Bye

    Hello!!

First of all, you need to provide a bit more specificity to your question.

What exactly do you want to do? Format your system to reinstall an OS that you have? Do you want to set up your machine for Dual Boot? Do you want to erase Vista to install XP?

Please specify your problem, your machine configuration ("hardware") as much as possible, and I will be more than happy to help you ;)

At startup, tap F8, select Command Prompt in Safe Mode, then in the command prompt type FORMAT.

      Good evening
And how does Windows format itself? Formatting = erasing everything
You'd better go to bed instead of giving advice like that.

If you want to format your machine, without any further specifications, you just need to put your OS CD in your machine, restart and boot from your CD, choose to install, even if a version is already present, delete the partition, format your hard drive with the correct file system, and reinstall.

    I don't have any OS CD. When I purchased it, I didn't receive a CD. :-(

    Good evening Stéphanie89,
Check out what "Tommy" told you in his post 4, you should have it in eRecovery.
    See you!

If I understood correctly, eRecovery backs up all your files on your PC (photos, folders, etc...)
Because I put all my folders and photos in data...

Yes, only the C: partition (where your Windows is installed) is completely erased to reinstall Windows as it was on the first day you got it. The other partitions are not affected.
    See you!

    I’m going to trust you.
I hope I'm not going to lose all my files that I uploaded on Data while formatting :-(

No problem, I have an Acer (desktop), I reinstalled it myself a month ago. If the password is not correct, post it again and I have the solution.
    See you!

Hello! I saw on the forum that you had a solution if the default password wasn't working... Please send it to me as soon as possible.

      Thanks in advance!

Hello! It's still working... but it lags a lot and I want to format it! Unfortunately, I can't find the password. I read on this forum that the default password is: 000000 but it doesn't work! If you could share your tip for finding the password, that would be really nice!

      Best regards
      See you!

If I understand correctly, I restart my PC when the green bar-shaped logo appears, and I press Alt + F10 at the same time, and that will open the eRecovery window. Then I need to enter the password, which is 6 zeros, after which I choose the restore action and then I select restore to factory settings. I let it run and then I reinstall everything?
And what is the numeric keypad when you talk about the 6 zeros?

    RE
ALT + F10 before the Windows launch bar, practically at the beginning, you should have a window marked ACER. Yes, then do as you did when you got it, connection, updates, the settings of IE7, your email
and the programs you want to add. The numeric pad is the keyboard with the numbers, if you don't have one, use the other number keys but not with the O (letter) key.
    A+

    Hello Stéphanie
Glad I could help you and thanks for the feedback. Now that you know this program, you should make some factory reset backup DVDs, it could always be useful if one day you can no longer access this kind of reinstallation.
    See you!

Hello, I have the same problem as you; due to an issue, I would like to reformat my computer.
However, Acer refuses to send it to me because the key numbers are illegible and I do not have a recovery CD.
If I buy a Vista CD, will I be able to reformat my PC?
