GPS Connection Issues with Magellan Triton 500 and PC

Hello,

In 2 months, I will be setting off for Santiago de Compostela and I am currently studying my itinerary. I bought a Magellan Triton 500 GPS with a full Topo France SD card. It comes with a VantagePoint CD that normally allows for GPS-PC connection (transmission of tracks, routes, etc.). This should be the "best", but for now, it's a blank slate.
The "Hic" occurs when I try to connect the GPS to my PC. I get the message "USB device not recognized". When I try to install the Magellan drivers from the CD (there are 2: X86 and AM64), the response is: "The best driver for the device is already installed - Driver up to date - but we still have: Unknown device". The connection is not established.
When I launch VantagePoint, I get the response "No GPS connected," and again, I can't do anything.
Are you aware of this problem? Could you provide me with the steps to resolve it?
I read on a forum that it was possible to set up WMDC, I only found the Windows Mobile Device Center software. I installed it, but I got the same result: Nothing!
I am on Vista. I contacted Windows, but Customer Service tells me to reach out to Magellan due to the nature of the issue.

I am counting on your expertise. Thank you in advance.
Best regards.
EBM

Please do a good deed for a pilgrim still in training.
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 8.0
