Hello,
My black ink cartridge is empty. There is a message indicating to press OK to start the replacement.
But when I press OK, nothing happens; the power button and the auto button (with the phone) are flashing.
What should I do? Did I make a mistake?
I look forward to your responses.
Emilie

Same problem as Emilie, notices are crap because it's worse with the lights always on, and haven't found a solution, and I'm more than desperate

I am looking for help because I can't turn off the AUTO button on my Epson Stylus Office BX300F printer; it is blinking continuously, it won't turn off, and I don't know how to change my black ink cartridge because the module is not accessible.
What should I do? Is it my fault? What has happened to my scanner?
Or is it the result we get after a year?
I await a response in order to resolve my issue; thanks to anyone who can help me.

Solution to change the ink cartridges of the BX300F printer:
On the BX300F model, there is a problem whenever you want to change the cartridge directly through the printer without using the computer. Indeed, the cartridges get stuck on the right, making it impossible to open the lid to change them.
You therefore have to use the computer (don't worry, it's very simple):
(For XP)
-> Start
-> Printers and Faxes
-> Utility tab
-> Replace ink cartridge
=> Follow the instructions displayed on the computer
It takes no more than a minute.
I hope this will be helpful for everyone who, like me, has struggled or even considered going "brute force" to change their cartridges! :)
Good luck to all!!

I solved the problem using a brute force method; you need to unplug the printer at the moment the cartridge moves in front of the window. Be careful because after changing the cartridges, it will ask you to change them again; you just need to tap them a couple of times and it works. Thank you for your help, goodbye everyone. Marco
I also had this problem, the printer was asking me for an empty cartridge, but it got stuck on the right. I had already tried this method on the computer, but the first time it didn’t work. Fortunately, I tried again and, just like magic, it worked. I also recommend the more conventional method, but I have to admit that if it hadn't worked, the "brute force" method would have been practical! Thank you for your advice, I hope it works for a while!

A priori, you are all on PC.
On a Mac, we don't have the cartridge replacement option in the printer utility...
Anyway, I'm going to test the BOURRIN method.

Hello,
We had the same problem and the solution to get the cartridge carriage out is the "brute force" solution. We took the printer offline when the carriage was in the middle.
It's indeed a problem with the cartridge chip.
Now everything is fine.
Thanks to FranckAlbi.

Hello everyone,
Having had the same issue as Emilie with the Epson BX300F (the two lights flashing and the machine literally crashing), I went through the Epson utility available on the computer and you just need to follow the steps and the carriage moves, the cartridge can be removed in no time. Really very easy, but indicating an internal problem with the machine...

Hello,
I managed to change the cartridge but by taking some drastic measures! I must admit it was a bit clumsy, but it worked again. Let's wait and see next time... I locked the cartridge holder by unplugging the printer at just the right moment. It's crazy that it has come to this! Otherwise, it just wasn't working despite the manuals... I've only had it for two months and I really don't have the time to go to customer service.

That's exactly it, by going through the computer and trying several times (for me, the 8th attempt was the right one!) we can unlock the situation, but that in no way argues for the quality of the machine, good evening.
I had to unplug it to get the cart at the right position
to change the cyan cartridge included with the printer purchase.

Hello, you have my reply on that but in case it blinks, you turn off your machine and then turn it back on and you follow your steps as I described above.
Hello,
I confirm that the method known as "BOURINE" worked well for me to change the cartridge.
Reminder of the problem: unable to change the cartridge, the carriage does not move to the correct position and the "auto" light is blinking.
Here’s how I did it:
- Turn off the printer
- Open and keep the lid open (as if to change the cartridge)
- Turn on the printer, at this point, the print head with the cartridge moves. At this moment, violently unplug the power cord.
- You can now proceed with the cartridge change and then close the lid.
- Plug the printer back in.
- In my case, the printer indicated that the cartridge still needed to be changed... by opening the lid this time, the print head moved and entered change mode. I removed and reinserted the cartridge, then closed the lid.
- Everything went back to normal!

It's simple, press the MENU button, then press the arrow above the OK button multiple times until you reach maintenance. Here you will find submenus, one of which is where we change the cartridges. :)
when the machine says "XXX exhausted" you press ok, then select the color to be replaced and then ok or 1.
You have to try several manipulations, I don't have this machine...

Hello
I just resolved this issue with Epson's hotline: you need to change it not by using the manual which recommends using the buttons on the printer, but from your computer. In the print utility (the one that shows you the ink level of the cartridges on the screen), find "how to replace an ink cartridge" and follow the procedure... I just did it on a Mac, but I assume there's a similar utility on Windows. However, I was advised to take the machine to the after-sales service when I have the time because a firmware update is needed... What a waste of time: I bought the printer a month ago ;-(
I hope this helps those who are facing the same issue.

Moral: it's a problem with the cartridge chip that creates the error we're interested in. By using the rather brute-force method of the technician, you will probably overcome the difficulty.
Moral (2): EPSON is really annoying us with its "Genuine" cartridges to prevent us from using compatibles, but this is the third issue with an original cartridge in less than a year. It's really starting to piss me off!
I hope this message helps you out of your predicament.
Atchao.
