How to write ae combined...?

Hello,
I've been trying to write the letters æ together for a while... in fact, you must know what I'm talking about... well, I hope so...
I have an English keyboard that I bought in Alberta, so I wonder if that's the problem... I tried the ALT + 145 code but nothing happened...
Can you help me?
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0
