Yes, it's true that having hard drive extension bays at the front is frankly EXCELLENT, there's no need to open the case to add hard drives. Personally, I've added my two Maxtor 160GB each, so 750+160+160 = a lot of storage space!!!! And still, there's the possibility of adding two internal hard drives! After changing the power supply... not fast enough for my taste!
I completely removed the OS yesterday and installed Se7en Integral 64-bit RC version: pure happiness!!!! No utilities to ruin my life, no Vista to lose performance ;) Just pure happiness!
The Seven rating on the PC is highly appreciated:
Processor: 7.4
RAM: 7.4
Graphics: 5.5
Game Graphics: 5.3
Main Hard Drive: 5.9
A bit disappointed with the graphics card which unfortunately doesn't live up to its promises, a small 5.3 is extremely disappointing when I know my MSI NX6600GT 128MB was getting a 4.5 (without overclocking, mind you!)
3dMark 2006 gives an average of 5559, 3dMark Vantage announces P2402 3DMarks.
The processor is excellent. It feels like it's sleeping: never at 100% even with heavy applications! The ramp-ups, if I may say so, are linear and give the impression of an infinite power reserve. At rest, it doesn't exceed 1%, 1.65GB of memory used at rest. The values are valid under Seven Integral 64-bit.
Notably, the hyper-threading technology allows the OS to utilize each core as a double core... 4x2=8! Virtualization enthusiasts will appreciate this a lot.
Also, the silence: ROYAL!!!! Aside from the DVD drive, and sometimes the hard drive making noise (but very discreetly): move along, there's nothing to see! Even with Need For Speed Undercover all settings maxed out: no noise at all! Hats off!
Another downside, now this is due to the 64-bit architecture: finding software that runs natively in 64 bits is a challenge!!!! There aren't many!!!!
For now, I have 7zip x64, java plugin x64... that's about it! Even Firefox doesn't exist "in French" in 64 bits, and the US x64 version has problems due to Flash, which also doesn't exist in 64 bits... If anyone knows any, I'm interested, free or paid (trial versions will do, just to test the performance in 64 bits).
It's a shame that developers don't make more effort, especially since this architecture is about to dethrone the 32 bits (the ability to manage more than 3GB of memory, more resistance -for now- to virus attacks.... etc., so many arguments pushing towards its adoption)
And as I mentioned in my previous post, my main complaint: the BIOS. With such a configuration (i7 920 @ 2.67GHz, 6GB DDR3, ATI Radeon HD 4650 @ 1GB DDR... do I need to remind you?), we should expect a much more generous BIOS. A machine aimed at gamers and limited in overclocking possibilities: so choking! Maybe Acer will release a BIOS update one of these days (I know I'm dreaming...)

No, this one doesn't seem to be heating up to explode; on the contrary, look at test 01 clean.
I'm not sure this is an Acer motherboard; the Core i7 is really
very recent, and I don't think they took the time to develop a motherboard yet, but I could be wrong.
In your opinion, would a software like AIDA or Everest be able to determine that?
Thanks again.

a motherboards that supports an i7 and a board with Intel x58 and the main components are from Intel, then I don't think they took the risk of using M"""""" capacitors,
there's very little difference between an x58 motherboard and another x58^^
then PCs that crash^^ there’s a lot of nonsense on the internet, you have to separate fact from fiction =) at worst it will be the power supply, nothing too serious, like with all PCs, it can happen.
then Acer and their laptops, personally I would never buy one in my life^^ but desktop PCs are still less demanding in terms of cooling, etc., I think it’s a very good, reliable, and high-performance PC, and you will be able to upgrade with a larger GPU without any problem if you're a gamer. Then yes, the motherboard is not exactly a P6T deluxe in that genre^^ but I'm sure there can't be much difference^^
800 to 900€ is great

I'm really interested in this PC :)
The only thing that's making me hesitate is that I'm unclear on two points, it would be great if you could confirm:
-Is there an S/PDIF output (optical coaxial)?
-How many internal and external SATA drives can we add?

I am a graphic designer and I enjoy the Acer M7720 8 core i7, very good equipment
really a pleasure to have a computer.
Thank you Acer because I paid for 3 custom-built computers before that only lasted a year, plus they were noisy and had a 512MB graphics card, and now I wanted to treat myself with the Acer, and honestly, I am happy at home with my family, we are doing great with the Acer, thanks again Acer.

Hello,
I don't know if it's this model, but I've read that some ACER desktops overheat and explode... so be careful ;-)

Wow, an Acer PC with an i7 920 for 800 euros... I won't tell you the disaster.... (The price is just crazy though)

- 640GB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive + 2 hot-swappable drive bays on the front
- Front touchscreen control panel compatible with Media Center
- DVDRW+/- double layer burner
- 14-in-1 photo card reader

- RJ45 network
- USB 2.0 optical keyboard and mouse

I'm still skeptical... an i7 for 800 euros, come on... I'm convinced that the motherboard is an Acer, but if it's not, I would be really, really surprised given the displayed price... (even if it's recent, I don't see why Acer wouldn't have one like everyone else since they produce motherboards just like their sister Asus, except that Acer is only for themselves, so I don't see why they wouldn't have made one).
Well, I have to admit that this is likely an ACER card or made in China because it was opened today at Saturn in Marseille and there is no possible identification even though it seems very well made with a highly developed processor cooling system.
Anyway, what else to say, one PCI express port available to install a second graphics card or other.
Power supply = Liteon 450W
DVD burner in Sata
Extension for HDD in Sata
6 slots for memory, slots 1 and 3 occupied with DDR3 2GB, totaling 4GB.
Ciao

Hi,
Tell me, I have a little issue with my Acer Aspire M7720: I installed Windows 7 and reinstalled my drivers without using the recovery disk to avoid getting all the Acer bloatware; but I'm missing the multimedia keyboard driver and the FireWire card driver. Could you send them to me or give me the exact reference please?

In that case, it might be worth it then..

Hello,
however, the one offered by Darty doesn't specify the brand of the motherboard.
http://www.darty.com/nav/achat/informatique/ordinateur_bureau/unite_centrale/acer_aspire_m7720-8r7s.html?xtor=AL-60&ectrans=1&origin=780634
it looks interesting but I'm still hesitating knowing that I have the right to return it within 10 days, let's see how it goes.
your opinions will be welcome a+++ thanks in advance.

Hi
Dilakos, if you have the budget, it's better to go for this one at Boulanger:
https://www.boulanger.com/c/ordinateur-gamer#message_code=20
On this one you have
_ a better graphics card (after all, it depends on the use)
_ Vista is 64 bits instead of the other one which is only 32 bits.

There’s definitely something really weird about certain sites saying that there’s 4GB and other DDR2, while i7s run in triple channel 3x1GB or 3x2GB or 6x2GB etc., and in DDR3, in my opinion, it’s the sites that say anything and everything. It’s not normal. Check with Acer; I searched the Acer site and there’s no M7720. I have to say the site is totally crappy so maybe I just didn’t find it.
Check with Acer beforehand or the seller before buying to know if it’s really an i7 with an x58 with 3GB of DDR3 etc.
In my opinion, there’s no problem; it’s the sites that write nonsense.
Bye

So I clarify, the M7720 with 6GB of RAM and 1000GB of HDD is sold in Belgium.
If you go to Acer.be you will have the chance to see it, it is sold with Vista 64Bit to support the 6GB DDR3 which would not be supported in the 34Bit version. The GPU is a bit outdated in this model, fortunately for me I have a more powerful GPU on the other PC, I will just have to transfer it.
Have a nice day everyone.

Hi! I'm a graphic designer and gamer. This model is really good, silent, and very efficient... just a few latency times while I'm playing, at regular intervals... where could that come from? Probably a background program.
Well, there aren't just graphic design and gaming jobs on the computer.
So look!! You must have received a virus, spam, etc.
Did you pay for your antivirus?
It works great for me.

not paid, I have Avast and Ad-ware but I also have MSN which is a collector of polluting products... analysis in progress.
There was McAfee as a proposal from Acer, you removed it to put a piece of crap like Avast
and Adware, why? McAfee does it very well and better.
I advise you to buy an antivirus, you will have fewer problems.
You have a good PC, don’t mess with it!!! Please.

I have just come out of 10 years of annual subscriptions between Norton and Kaspersky and I've not been spared from viruses and other crap. It was on the advice of a computer technician (from Microsoft) that I took Avast and Ad-aware. After the scan that found a dozen infected files, the problem still remains. I will uninstall MSN to see.
The game in question is Age of Conan.

Hello,
Many of you are talking about the "Acer Aspire M7720-8R75". I would love to discuss it with you, but unfortunately, it is not available at any of the retailers I have consulted...! Darty, Surcouf, Rue du Commerce, Auchan, Confo, Carrefour, etc.
It is still in Acer's catalog, so it should still be available.
Thanks in advance to anyone who could let me know a reliable point of sale.
Best regards,
Mapi77
