Opening the case and loss of warranty

<hello
I bought a Packard Bell at Auchan on Friday, without a floppy disk drive. But I realized that it was useful: I bought one at Surcouf, which I added myself. However, it is not recognized by XP, and I contacted Auchan's customer service to check the power supply system. They informed me that opening the case without authorization would void the warranty. I thought that a computer was the only device that allowed its case to be opened without voiding the warranty.
What is the situation? Thanks to anyone who can clarify this for me.
JJ WEHRLE
PS
Auchan did not have a black drive, so the seller told me that I could get one anywhere.

Was there a sticker that "sealed" the case to your wall....
I don't want to discourage you, but theoretically all open PCs are no longer under warranty in large retail chains and on branded PCs...
But, well, since a PC should be a versatile tool and we often have to get our hands dirty, this clause is not often respected....
Try shouting a little loudly in Auchan on a Saturday afternoon when it's packed in front of the entrance... you'll see, it should still work... scandals always work...

Hi!
Take a good look at your sales and warranty contract!
If this clause ("opening the casing voids the warranty") is not stated, then the warranty should be valid!
Good luck
Cultura is like jam!
THE LESS YOU HAVE, THE MORE YOU SPREAD IT! -

No stickers, seals, or tamper-proof labels. Moreover, the seller told me that I could add it myself.

So in that case, call them back and tell them that your system is unstable and THAT'S IT, don't say anything else... just say that it's malfunctioning and that you want a test of the motherboard or power supply in warranty...
Otherwise,

Another solution is to find a friend, a relative, a colleague, in short, someone who knows what they are doing and has the audacity to claim to be a maintenance technician or a computer engineer (they should at least know more than the salesperson, but that's not too hard) and say that it's him who opened it. Most of the clauses I've seen were "Any opening by unqualified personnel"; it's hard to say this guy isn't qualified (I myself am a computer engineer and I've helped people out like this several times :o) )
The TeebObeeT preferred by the ugly one...

As an IT technician at Auchan, if the guy isn't too stupid, we don't pay too much attention to whether the PC has been opened or not. A PC is meant to be optimized, so don't stress about it. You just need to enable the port in the BIOS for your floppy drive to be recognized. Bye bye!

The refusal to provide warranty coverage after opening the case is an abusive clause.
Whether there is a sticker or not, whether the clause is stated on the contract or not, it is null and void.
This does not release them in any way from the warranty. -
Hi, I also just received a warranty refusal from the authorized Packard Bell service in Guyana for my laptop. The reason given: there is dust inside, so the customer must have opened it.
I haven't opened it: I don't know anything about computers and I believe, like everyone else, that you shouldn't open a device that is still under warranty... Thanks to the one who said this is an abusive clause for telling me where they got this information, so I can use it to assert my rights. Valerie -

Same adventure at Carrefour online, I dusted off my PC and oops, warranty lost. If you don't maintain the PC, it burns out; if you maintain it, oops, no more warranty.
Does anyone have a text mentioning this abuse?
