Hello,

I bought a second-hand LG KU 990 for my sister. I wanted to make sure it works, but since I'm not with the same carrier, it shows "usim locked."
I might not have found the answer if it already existed, but I wanted to know before giving it to her if I could put in a SIM card from the correct carrier (Orange) or if I must necessarily use a USIM card?
I also wanted to know if we can buy just a USIM card on a pay-as-you-go plan?

I did "2945#*990#" and then "unlock sim" and after that it shows me
- network lock
- network subset lock
- service provider lock
- corporate lock
- sim/usim lock
none work except the first one and that’s where it asks for the NCK code but I can't find out what it is because I found the port!!

1_Turn on mobile with SIM card
2_after entering the PIN code, dial 2945#*990#
3_The security menu appears
4_Select the menu "UNLOCK SIM"
5_Then in the sub-menu "Network lock"
6_The entry menu "nck" appears
7_Dial your unlock code!!!!

To get the "UNLOCK CODE, type in the Google bar "site Deblocage.ca." I did it for 2 phones (trusted site)

When I used this method, it actually locked the phone instead of unlocking it. I think my message from May 19, 2009 should be taken into account. I am following up on your last message from December 2, 2009.
I agree with Cyrille's manipulation, as it corresponds to what the operator (Bouygues) provided.
I myself had this manipulation done by a Bouygues salesperson on the phone, STK code I don't remember what, and... to my despair, it doesn't work. Apparently, the codes given by LG might not be correct.
So, I have everything... over 8 months of subscription, the necessary codes, the passwords... and a phone that I can no longer use (having changed operators). I'm really frustrated.

After a few hours of struggles, I finally managed to unlock my LG Viewty KU 990i 10g from Orange. Here’s the procedure.

First of all, no need to search all over the internet; you can't unlock it that way.

If you are still subscribed to Orange, you can do it via your mobile by calling 700, otherwise it will be through a landline by dialing 3970 (waiting time is free, then it will cost the price of a local call from a France Télécom landline)

Make sure to have your IMEI number. You can find it under your battery, near the SIM card; it starts with a 35.

- Call one of the two numbers... wait...
- You will first be asked for the phone's call number to be unlocked, your last name, first name, and possibly your address.
- Then, you’ll be given your IMEI, and there’s a good chance you’ll have to wait a bit longer while your technician realizes that the unlocking is done via email.
- Provide a valid email address, and don’t freak out when you’re told that you should receive your unlock code within 24 to 48 hours; that’s the standard announcement. I received mine within minutes.

In the email, you will find all the instructions and your code! AMEN! You can finally check the 45 messages from your friends who are trying to reach you!

I had the same problem, and therefore I couldn't use it for 5 months. Everything was resolved on Wednesday, May 6th, and then I found all my old messages and contacts that were on the phone when it was locked, with the message "Usim locked."

there are indeed issues with LG Ku990i phones and Free mobile SIM cards, message: insert USIM!
I solved the problem by putting the Free mobile SIM card into another (locked) phone and making a call to the voicemail (123) for example
when I put the Free mobile SIM card back into the LG Ku990i ... I don't know by what miracle ... the phone accepts the Free SIM!
I hope this post will help other people
