[GTA 4] Map display issue.

Hello,

I just bought GTA 4, and after spending a long time figuring out how to install it, I launch it, start playing, and during the first mission, I walk 500 meters and the map disappears.

I downloaded a patch from jeuxvideo.com, same problem. I try to repair the game by inserting the CD again, same problem. I am currently reinstalling it, but not knowing if that will fix the issue (I have some doubts...), I'm asking you right away how to fix this.

PS: My computer isn't really powerful enough, indeed, with everything at minimum, I’m at 200MB/40 approximately in graphics settings and on top of that, I can't change the settings.

I found my solution. I wanted to run the game at maximum resolution, but it was impossible to display the textures. Basically, there were no vehicles or pedestrians, and the game only showed me the apartment; the rest was totally empty. I was running in the void and hitting invisible walls, lol! Anyway...

My solution was to lower the resolution by half and set the textures to minimum while keeping everything else at maximum. As a result, some textures still have trouble, but there's no lag, even though I'm at about 350/198MB, lol!

Drivers 180.48
PC config: latest MacBook Pro: 2.4 GHz
9400 and 9600GT
2GB RAM

you can always share your config just in case, but apparently there are a lot of issues with this game..

Well, I looked a bit, as reinstalling the game didn't change anything. Apparently, you need to download the latest drivers for your graphics card (at least the described issue for the NVIDIA 7600 is the same as for the 8400, so I'll check...)

Re, I also installed the new drivers for my GeForce 7600, but nothing to do.... It really frustrates me, but the little that I managed to see of the game left me with a feeling of great quality, despite some imperfections, and being an unconditional fan of the GTA series, I am willing to wait to devour this new installment.... Same display issue, with two graphics cards and the latest driver installed: nvidia 8400 and 9600GT...
game very poorly optimized for PC..

Hi,
I have the same issue despite the NVIDIA 7600GS 512 MB drivers, 3 GB of RAM, a slightly weak Core2 Duo (one core fully utilized), a resolution of 800X600 CRT, I'm running graphics at 350MB/400MB (I don't know what that is).

Hello, I have the same problem as the first message posted, except that I have the recommended configuration for the game, including: Vista Service Pack 1, Intel Pentium D 925 3GHz processor, NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS 895 MB, 2 GB of RAM, 32-bit operating system. I have already installed the patch that is only meant to fix the numerous bugs to launch the game. After driving for 500 m, I can barely see anything except the car. Given the recommended configurations on jeuxvideocom and on the back of the box, I don't understand why it’s like this (I also did the update that Rockstar offers). Please help me!
