Initialization error adobe reader

Hello,
Every time I try to download Adobe Reader, I get an initialization error and I'm unable to download it even by disabling Avast, whether with Internet Explorer or Chrome. A friend tried without any success and uninstalled the old version for which I had the same problem with updates. Now I can no longer open any PDFs. If someone could guide me as my knowledge is limited.

Do a clean-up with ccleaner (registry too)

Restart your PC
try reinstalling it.
If the problem persists, and you mostly just want to read PDFs, there's this app:

Download and install instead --> Foxit Reader which is much lighter.
During the installation, uncheck the toolbar and ask
After the installation, sometimes the toolbar installs
Go to add and remove
Uninstall the Foxit Reader toolbar if present.
Go to: C\program files\foxit software\foxit reader
Right-click in the empty space
New
Folder
Name it --> Lang
Next, to get French on Foxit Reader, go to this --> link
In select product, select the version --> 5.3.1.0606
In French, right-click on --> download lang_fr_fr.xml
Save the target as, choose the desktop and save
On the desktop
Copy the file --> download lang_fr_fr.xml
Go paste it in the Lang folder --> C\ program files\foxit software\foxit reader\Lang
Open Foxit Reader
Edit
Preferences
Click on Languages
Check: choose custom language
Select french and OK.
Then, click on help and click on set as default pdf viewer.

springerThank you both for your replies. I started by trying toadangel's solution which seemed simpler to me. However, I had already done a cleanup with cleaner; this time I downloaded it again beforehand, but I must not have used it correctly yesterday. This time I followed the tutorial, and after restarting, I downloaded Reader without any issues. For months I haven't been able to open certain files... Thanks again! But do you think I need to download Flash Player again?

springerGood evening toadangel, the reason for the relation to Flash is that it's also Adobe, but you're right after all, they probably have nothing to do with each other. Moreover, I shouldn't use it, and it must have been installed by my daughter just like many programs that certainly aren't useful to me. This computer could really use some clearing out, but I'm afraid of deleting something important or blocking everything... I'm more interested in hunting dogs, particularly spaniels.
In any case, I'm glad to have found Reader again.

springerI just checked in add/remove, there are no longer traces of the programs mentioned above.
I don't have Firefox so I couldn't verify, but when I launched a search on the disks I found 10 results with Firefox. Then I loaded Firefox to check in the tools/add-ons/extention, everything seemed normal, then I uninstalled Firefox and searched again in C and this time I found 16 results. Can I delete all these folders? I can't paste them here, it doesn't work. -

Run CCleaner for a good cleanup.
Download and install --> MalwareBytes
Uncheck the box --> Activate the free trial of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro
Run it
Update the product
Run the full scan
After the scan, click to view the results
If positive, check everything
Remove the selection.
Post the report in your next message.
