Intermittent satellite reception

Thank you, all three of you, for your responses. I think the ideal would be to move it, but I don't know where to put it lol. However, I will still go up to check the cabling as advised. I already have an amplifier quite close to the satellite dish (I had seen that it should be placed as close as possible to the dish) and it has at least improved the green bar, which has been full since then, indicating that the dish is well oriented? I don't know. As for my trees, I have already pruned them, but I think the one that bothers me the most is in the neighbor's yard, so I can't do anything about it. What surprises me is that usually when there are no leaves, it works well, but not this year. A check is necessary. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Best regards.

@Toto86An amplifier is used to compensate for significant losses in long wiring; it does not improve the initial reception quality in any case!!

@jppGood evening, without the amplifier it also worked, but with the amplifier the green reception bar is at maximum, without the amplifier it was at 4. Indeed, I have a long Aser cable since it is 20 meters. I don't know if the amplifier improved my reception aside from the green bar, but one thing is for sure, this year with the amplifier the reception was good until the end of July, while in other years without the amplifier it usually messes up well before that. However, now I'm having a hard time picking up the reception again, whereas before without the amplifier I would regain it by the end of October. That's why I don't understand. I see you talking about an amplifier; a satellite dish works fine without one. It's a source of additional hassles. I think in your case, reflecting on another antenna location would be necessary. Are you in a house, an apartment, a bungalow, or attached houses? Many different answers can be given depending on your situation. Here are the imperatives: full view of the sun at noon (+1 hour for us in winter), so a good opening for the visibility of the antenna (no trees, or taller houses, etc.) in the line of the antenna; think of your satellite dish as a light projector. 30° elevation, and you'll see that the houses farther away are above it; you're not aiming at the horizon but higher up in the sky. Light stops with certain obstacles; this is called a shadow. For satellite reception, it's the same. An antenna, as I already told you, does not necessarily have to be on the roof. It needs a "view" due south and a few degrees to the right and left. There you can think about where to place this "giant dish" so it doesn't obstruct or get obstructed by obstacles. You know how to point it; you've done it before. To do this, remove the amplifier which is physically an obstacle, and if there's no signal, it’s useless. Powerful satellites like Astra do not require amplifiers (but you still need to respect a minimum dish diameter of 60CM for Astra in Europe).
