Hello,
I have a little problem with my Acer laptop. The screen is pink; everything that was white has become pink, and everything that is black is green.
From time to time, it switches from normal to these abnormal colors.
I hope it's not a hardware issue with the graphics card.
Thank you for your help.

you just have a connection problem...
explanation
you must have a faulty connection between your screen and your motherboard... either you are connected with a very fragile flat cable, or you are connected with wires and one of the wires is making a poor contact... you should dismantle the back of your screen and try to replug that connector either on this side or under your keyboard, on the motherboard.

I already disassembled my laptop to check the connections and couldn’t manage to get the connector out from under the keyboard; it was (so to speak) stuck. And where can I find it behind the screen? There are no screws to take the screen apart.

The screen disassembles right in front when you open it; at each corner, you should have caps that hide the screws.

Hi, thank you, I did what you told me and there was actually a loose connection on the connector at the back of the screen.

I sprayed some electrical lubricant on it and it worked perfectly.

Anyway, thanks.

Hoping it stays that way.

Hello,

I had the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5100: I followed your instructions, carefully reconnected the two white cables on the board at the base of the screen, and the cable behind the screen, and voilà, it works again!!

Thank you very much, I was about to give up!!!

Sometimes think before throwing something away, dead for dead, why not test it first and ask questions on forums? The proof is it has served and gone back, for zero euros, just a bit of time.

Good luck to you.

Here, something similar is happening to me. My screen is very dark; I can barely make out the desktop at startup, but when connected via VGA or S-VIDEO, it works normally. By shining a strong light on the screen, I can see better.

I have the same problem with an Asus F3,
I sent it to the service center twice, and they found nothing...
yet I described the problem to them...
I'm a bit fed up...
I'm going to try to fix it myself...
Has anyone ever tried to do it on an Asus?
Is it possible?

For your dark screen issue, it might be the backlight that is dead.

Hello,

I hope your computer is working again; otherwise, I found this solution on another help site, and it saved my PC!

I quote:
The problem occurred occasionally and then became more and more frequent. Strangely, when I tapped on the screen, the pink colors disappeared for a moment before reappearing.

1°- I noticed that by tapping on the top of the screen or pressing with my fingers on the left half of the top edge of the screen frame, the normal colors returned. THIS LOOKS LIKE A FAULTY CONNECTION.

2°- I disassembled my screen (only the plastic covers) while making sure to disconnect the battery and the power supply.

3°- Behind the screen, there is a large ribbon cable with a shielded sheath that runs from the bottom of the screen and connects via a plastic and metal connector at the top of the screen (it's the largest one: you can't miss it!). This connector is the cause of the problem (it should be about 2cm wide and 3 or 4mm thick, and it is held in place with tape to prevent it from disconnecting!). Indeed, when you look at how it is made, you can see that the electrical contacts are not "flexible" due to lack of space. So, over time, as the connector is wide, it bends slightly (invisible to the naked eye), and some contacts do not connect well anymore. Moreover, once the tape is removed, you can see that the connector has some play.

4° My solution was to make sure that the contacts of the ribbon cable are well pressed against the female connector of the screen. I then added 2 or 3 layers of tape on the male connector (in the part that goes into the female connector) on the side opposite the contacts so that the connector "pushes a little" when inserted and that the contacts are well pressed. WARNING, you should only make a strip and not cover the entire surface because it seems to me that the metal part of the male connector acts as ground, so there needs to be a spot where contact is made.

For my part, the problem has been solved since that day; contact cleaner sprays are useless (I had tried before).

Cost of the repair: €0!!! :hello:

Hoping that ACER will do better work on its future computers! Mine did this after 3 years, one year after the warranty!!!
