If you're looking for a good racing game, I recommend Grand Prix Legend. It's a true F1 racing simulator with cars from 1967, and mods are also available online, more than 500 tracks, mods for 1965, 1966, 1969, everything is free, the game is no longer under license. The graphics are excellent and the physics of the game are realistic.

Trackmania is a racing game that doesn't quite resemble a typical car race; cars fly, perform loops, etc... It's not a game for those passionate about Formula 1.
It's true that Trackmania is more about stunt racing than Formula 1. I still came across a few servers that offer traditional tracks, but they are rare. Honestly, I couldn't do without it even though I occasionally curse because some tracks are really hard to tackle! I'm thinking of trying Need for Speed, but I've heard it consumes a lot of resources. What do you think?
Hello, I installed Trackmania on my PC and I have to say that both in terms of graphics, sound, and reaction speed it is awesome!!! Where it gets crazy are the tracks; I find that at times it’s more about aviation than car driving; the downside is that to access the higher levels you have to do acrobatics and that’s not my thing; do you have an equivalent online game with what I would call ‘normal’ driving? Thanks in advance.

The best free car game is definitely Trackmania! Although it's not really a "normal" car racing game, it's still a good game.
You just need to like the genre.
