Why does my phone display "Emergency calls only"? Solved/Closed

Hello,

I have an LG Viewty KU 990 mobile phone for almost a year, provider Orange.

Since today, my phone displays a message on the home screen "Emergency Calls Only", so obviously when I try to call, it doesn't work and when someone tries to call me, my correspondents go to my voicemail.

I am in an area where I usually always have reception and this is the first time my phone has displayed this kind of message.

I tried turning the phone off and on again, it's still the same.

I tried calling Orange customer service and they say they can't do anything about my problem.

I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else and if anyone knows what to do.

Hello, I had the same problem as you and I just found out how to fix it. You need to go to the menu, then connectivity, network settings, and select. They will ask you manual or auto; you choose manual. I was on SFR 3G, I selected SFR 2G, and it works again.

Go to a place where your phone gets signal... if that doesn't solve the problem, remove the SIM card and the battery, then turn it back on afterwards.

This happened to me no later than 15 days ago and I'm with Bouygues Telecom. The customer service told me the same thing, which is to bring it back for an exchange, something I haven't done. I waited and it fixed itself. They also told me to check if it was the phone or the SIM card, for me it was the phone, hence the recommendation to bring it to customer service. I didn't do that since it works perfectly. If it persists, yes you could bring it back, but in the meantime, try this and wait a bit.

You need to call their respective technical support service and they will tell you what’s wrong, of course call from another phone, otherwise for some I would say have you paid your bills on time, they really like money those operators so if you are late with payments they only leave you enough to call emergency services, check even if you are sure you paid,

I just had the same problem. I removed the battery, the SIM card, and turned it back on. It didn't work. I tried sending a text message. It worked. After that, I received all the messages since the bug, and there's no more problem with calling.

No idea where it came from, though.

I had the same issue with no network for no reason. Even removing and reinserting the SIM card and battery, or switching to airplane mode, didn't help. I reset the phone and it worked again. Good luck to you.
