IPhone Phone Number Format?

Hello,
I just bought my first iPhone
To enter my contacts (since none of those on my SIM card are found... great...) the phone numbers are displayed like this (060) 8817-087 for example.
How can I convert them to French format?
I've looked in settings, the phone language is set to French... I can't manage to do it
