I would like to install an Iomega Zip 100 drive on LPT1, I managed to find the driver under Windows XP, but I can't create the G: drive. I kept the original Iomega Toolbox Zip Jaz CD from 1997. Could someone please advise me on how to install this Zip 100? Thank you in advance, I would like to recover files from the 100 MB disks. midutoit@wanadoo.fr

Good evening everyone.
I had the same problem as you, but it is completely resolved.
The starting axiom is to have an 'old' IOMEGA ZIP100 on a parallel port.
After downloading the drivers from IOMEGA, the famous ioware-w32-x86-402.exe, and installing everything:
1 turn on the zip without a hard drive inside.
2 turn on the computer
3 it works
I specify that my XP is the official SP2 from Microsoft!!!
If, while the computer is turned on, I plug my ZIP into it, it takes a minute to recognize it!!!
See you later!

And if it still doesn't work, if the system requests the ppa.sys file, for example?
For those still wandering in this desert, here’s how I got out:
- Turn off the ZIP100. After executing the file mentioned earlier by Bronto, reboot the machine.
- Uninstall the parallel port (Control Panel, System, Device Manager, Ports, LPT1: right-click, then Delete)
- Turn off the PC
- Turn on the ZIP100
- Turn on the PC. It correctly reinstalls LPT1 and it works.
Have fun everyone!

Good evening
I went on the iomega website, but I couldn't get this driver to launch, for the simple reason that the G: drive won't install. Is this model old?
I would like to recover some files. This external Zip 100 drive
worked very well under Win 98, then under Win 98. I switched to ADSL 1024. It can't keep up anymore; it's like me, the head
wants to but the rest can't anymore.
Maybe I'll receive a good tip soon; if so, thanks in advance.
Thanks to everyone, as reading the request columns works very well
See you soon

Hello,
I have the same problem. I remember that back in the days of Windows 98, 95, and earlier, the ZIP drive only worked if the printer connected behind it was turned on: but since there’s no printer connected anymore (it’s outdated, poor thing..;) there’s no “printer turned on”...
Is there a way to make the ZIP work by itself?
Thank you
JPHG

What should I do???

Hello,
Sorry, it's working but I don't remember exactly what I did. Try to:
install the driver (it's already done...) with the ZIP not plugged in (by parallel printer cable).
shut down the PC
then try either to connect the Zip (and its power supply) before restarting, or to reconnect it after...(make sure the ZIP is powered...)
to see if Windows detects anything and "installs" the newly detected device...
try to connect the ZIP drive, then restart the PC without stopping the ZIP drive
Also, make sure to insert a ZIP disk into the ZIP drive (before, after, ...) in case it gives Windows some ideas
Good luck
in any case
1: it's always more complicated than we thought
2: the machine is always right but
3: I can always pull the 220 V plug ((The mind controls matter, right?)

Hello Jean-Pierre,
Thank you for getting back to me regarding the zip 100 I used to have but no longer possess. I wanted to recover some secondary files; too bad, technology evolves and I should have transferred some data when I changed PCs, but I sold the old one 5 years ago. I think Windows 95 and Windows XP2 are not very compatible.
Thanks again despite the old date for following up on our searches.

Hello,
While cleaning out my attic, I found my Zip 100 drive in its case with all its connections and about ten 100 MB disks. Since I won't be using it anymore, my wife is rightly asking me to get rid of it...
I checked this forum to see if I could still use it, but I know perfectly well that I won't be using it again!
In short, I can either throw it in the trash or make someone "happy"...
If you are interested, I can send it to you for 10 EUROS (+ shipping costs).
My email: betinho@free.fr
Best regards

Well, yes, time flies. If needed, I can still read 100 MB ZIP disks on my current PC (I just checked: yes!) and copy them onto a CD or memory card. If the files aren't confidential and if it could be of help... (It annoys me to have files on a "medium" that I can no longer read (my collection includes a hard drive that doesn't work anymore, a few first-generation flash drives that are "bottlenecked," inaccessible 1.44 MB disks, ...).
With my sympathy,
Jean-Philippe

Hello,
I really need to recover some data from a zip disk from an Iomega 100. If you can still recover them and put them on a CD, it would remove a huge burden from my shoulders. I will send you the disk and a blank CD. If it's not too much trouble, my email is serial29@hotmail.fr
Thanks in advance
Nico

Hello,
Looking further ...
a zip driver and a scsi driver ...?!
it could be a very good tool for PC repair.
Let me explain, by having a bootable file on a zip disk we can incorporate a dos as well as diagnostic, partitioning, repair tools, MEMtest etc ... in large numbers up to 100 Mb
from there: is it possible to boot a PC from a scsi port (when installing win XP it asks if you want support for raid and
scsi ports!!!
or an advanced bios that manages this type of device
noting that I own an iomega ZIP 100
and that it could be very useful to me!!!
at your kind heart!

Hello,
I'm not a great specialist, but I would start by trying to uninstall (the driver + the guest program, ...) then clean up thoroughly, defragment, shut down and restart the PC. Then reload everything (without plugging in the Zip!) and then shut down the PC, plug in the Zip, and restart the PC... not forgetting to connect the printer cable to the Zip and to the PC (I don't know what that's for, but I remember having to do it! ? ! ?)
If necessary, I can look for the installation support that I must have somewhere (D7 or CD)
Good luck,
Jean-Phi

Notice to all those who are "bothered" by these damn zip files, if you follow exactly the procedure from brontosore 22, it works perfectly. So thank you very much brontosore 22!

Hi, I don't have an answer, but given the date of your ad, maybe you found a solution? If so, could you share it with me? I'm in the same situation as you. Thank you.
Good evening everyone,
I have read all your comments carefully, having the same problem as some of you to reconnect my 100 MB ZIP, I followed the advice of PAPI who provided this solution on December 4, 2008.
It works very, very well...
except that... if in your PC's BIOS the parallel port is not active... then it doesn't work...
So, for those who know a little or even quite well, you just need to activate the PARALLEL PORT...
Once that's done, follow the instructions from PAPI and then it works like a charm.
I guarantee you 100% IT WORKS.
If you are not familiar with the BIOS, I strongly advise you to ask one of your friends or a computer professional to do it for you.
Good reconnection of your IOMAGA ZIP...
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE
