Hyperlink insertion in image Photoshop

Hello,

I am currently doing an internship and I have been asked to create an email signature in the form of an image with a hyperlink to the company's website included in this image. (Is that clear enough?)

Basically, I will create my image in Photoshop and insert text like "New Site", "Ms. Thing...", etc. So far, so good ^^

The problem is being able to insert a hyperlink on the text "new site" and have it survive the flattening of the layers and the jpeg extension.

Do you know how I can achieve this feat? ^^

Thank you for your help!!!
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Assigning a URL to a slice turns the entire area of the slice into a link in the resulting webpage. When a user clicks on this link, the web browser accesses the specified URL and the target frame. This option is only available for Image slices.

To assign link information to an Image slice:

1. Select a slice. If you are using Photoshop, double-click the slice with the Slice Selection tool to display the Slice Options dialog box.
2. In the Slice Options dialog box (Photoshop) or the Slice palette (ImageReady), enter a URL in the URL text box or choose an existing URL from the dropdown menu. You can enter a relative or complete URL. If you enter an absolute URL, make sure to include the appropriate protocol (for example, enter https://www.adobe.com/fr/ and not www.adobe.fr for an HTML link). For more details on using relative and complete URLs, refer to documentation on HTML (in print or online).
3. If needed, enter a target frame name in the Target text box or choose an option from the dropdown menu. A frame name must correspond to a previously defined image in the HTML file of the document. When a user clicks on the link, the specified file is displayed in the new image:
* _blank, to display the linked file in a new window while keeping the original browser window open.
* _self, to display the linked file in the same frame as the original file.
* _parent, to display the linked file in its own parent image frame. Use this option if the HTML document contains frames and the current frame is a child. The linked file is displayed in the current parent frame.
* _top, to replace the entire browser window with the linked file by removing all current frames.

Hello Nico,
I created an animated .gif banner in Photoshop CS3 so that it can link to a web address.

I successfully executed your advice above, but I am encountering a problem after saving.
When I preview it on the web, everything works as it should, so I save it on my desktop.
After opening it, I can no longer click on it!
Do you have any idea where the problem might be?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,
I followed your advice, but when I try to save, if I choose the image option, the file saves as a jpg. When I click on the jpg icon, the image displays, but the link doesn't work.
If I save in image and html format, the file saves as html.
Actually, I would like to be able to create a jpg image with a link to my site.
Thank you for your advice.
