Downgrading a bios ?????

Solved

Hello, I have an ASUS P5E3 Deluxe, and I'm having an issue because the PC doesn't always recognize the drives

I updated the BIOS (from 1001 to 1003)

So I think the PC is acting up because of that, as it was working fine before

My question is: can I downgrade my BIOS from version 1003 to 1002?
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Good morning,
yes, it is possible; but it should be noted that a BIOS update is necessary only to fix a problem

In that case, explain yourself; did you go to the Asus website to get the BIOS?

At what step are you stuck?

Just in case, the motherboard CD contains the first BIOS; you insert it and boot from it to easily downgrade

No, actually the PC is working very well except that the DVD drives are not showing in the workstation!
Right now it's messing up with the update 1003

When I had 1001 there were no issues at all!

So I think I'm going to revert to 1002 to try.

Well, you go here: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx
you download the desired BIOS that corresponds to your motherboard and use your floppy disk or the software to change the BIOS

Yeah, but I know how to do that, no worries. What I wanted to know is if we're risking anything.

Well, every BIOS change carries a risk of incident; whether upgrading or downgrading

For more security; you can ask a professional to do it for €10; it’s cheaper than changing it if you mess it up ;)

OK, 10 € that's dead, or worse, if I have a problem I'll send back the motherboard!

Still, investing 1500 € in a tower and having issues like this!

As you wish; but the failed BIOS is not covered by the warranty...
