What is the purpose of the IF OUT output on a demodulator?

Hello,

On a satellite digital demodulator (receiver), there is an IF OUT output.
What is this output used for?

I would like to know if it is possible to connect this output to a second digital demodulator and watch a different program on a second television with all the functions of the second demodulator.

To be more precise, I have a twin LNB monoblock for ASTRA + HOT BIRD connected to a demodulator equipped with a DiSEqC that allows access to the 2 satellites. Obviously, this demodulator can only decode one signal at a time.

I wonder if it is possible to connect a second demodulator to the IF OUT output of the first one. Several questions to which I would like your help:

1) Is it possible to access channels independently from the first one? It seems to me that there might be a conflict issue of "who controls what at the monoblock".

2) Is it possible to program a channel on the same satellite from the second demodulator? Does it need to have the same polarization?

Thanks,

LesNuls

I would have thought of an infrared output like on my VCR that allows connecting an infrared-type sensor to control another device.

Forget Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8 and give Firefox 3 a try, and you'll forget IE.

Is it a 3.5mm jack output?

No, it is a "bare wire" coax connection identical to the LNB In input of the coax that connects the LNB to the decoder.
