Hello,

I have a problem with The Sims 2. I installed The Sims 2 and some expansions, and when I launched the game and started my save, I can't bring up the cheat bar. I press Ctrl + Shift + C and it just takes a screenshot.

It's URGENT, HELP ME!

for Vista on HP

It seems that the problem is due to the HP PC. Indeed, the "HP Health Check" software has the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+C.
Just go to "Start/Programs/HP" and right-click on the program and click on "Properties".
In the "Shortcut Key" box, you will see the famous ctrl+shift+c; just delete this shortcut (it will say "None" afterwards) and confirm!

There you go, just launch the game!

Thank you for all your information, Guill. I do have a laptop under HP, but I tried to do what you told me... except that the computer says I need administrator rights to modify the settings... I don't know how you did it... or if I need to do something special.

Thanks in advance - Sean

I found it =)
On my PC, when I click on ctrl + shift + c, it opens a program (hp health check)... So I had to remove the shortcut keys. And now the code bar appears in the game.
You should check if you have a program that uses these keys as shortcuts.

Hello,

I have the same problem as you, the 3 keys are assigned to another program: Windows Media Player apparently, but I can't delete the shortcut... can you explain to me how you did it please?

The HP site told me it was impossible to remove these Windows components.... so strange, if you have the solution, that would be great!!

Thanks in advance!!

I had the same problem, the code bar wasn't appearing; and when I pressed CTRL + SHIFT + C on the desktop, a window would pop up. Actually, I simply solved the issue while playing by entering:
CTRL + SHIFT + WINDOWS (the key to the left of ALT) then C. It worked really well for me.

I hope this helps you!

Well, for all those who are struggling, here is the REAL SOLUTION (which has already been suggested by others):

Actually, on HP computers, ctrl+shift+c is already a shortcut (HP CHECK HEALTH). So please proceed as follows:

- First, click on start

- Then click on Programs, then HP, and right-click on HP CHECK HEALTH

- There, click on Properties: a window will pop up and on one of its lines it says "shortcut key: CTRL + SHIFT + C". Delete this and click on Apply.

Now everything WORKS!

It's Ctrl+Alt+C

The problem may come from your cursor
if you have installed a virtual cursor!

it’s better to set it to default.

Go to this site, it might help: http://sims2parsimssy.canalblog.com/archives/_patchs/index.html

You'll see on the right side it says Insimenator, if you download it, it will help you a lot I think (but some people say it's not recommended to do so), I don’t know why. Because it works very well though.

You won’t need the bar that’s causing you problems anymore. And the registration is free, after that you put it in Downloads like for the objects, then you'll find it in your game under electronics.

Hoping I helped you.

Hey again,

Actually, I've figured out why some people discourage the use of the insiménator; it's because the game is too easy since you don't have to worry about anything anymore.
So they call it cheating, but that's all there is to it.
You can also see here the person explains how to do it http://www.sims-fr.com/viewtopic-19919.html

I hope this helps you.

If we discourage the use of the inseminator, it is not out of concern for cheating; if people cheat, that’s their problem. It’s only that the inseminator can create major issues with the game. It’s a bit like using debugging mode; people are playing with fire and then complain that their game doesn’t work anymore, but they don’t look any further. INSEMINATOR = CAN CAUSE BIG PROBLEMS.

Are you pressing all three keys at the same time? Ctrl, then Shift without releasing, and then C?

What I can tell you is that it's not due to the game, I have all the add-ons, kits, and my game has always displayed the code bar.

Maybe it's due to a bad installation of the game, for example, not following the correct order.

On the other hand, do you have any downloaded objects in your game?!

Hello,
I now have a laptop that runs on VISTA, SIMS works very well, but when I try to enter a code, I do the usual Ctrl shift c, and the bar doesn't come up, which is seriously starting to annoy me. I've tried several times, I've gone on several forums, but nothing...

Since I got my Vista laptop, the game works great, but displaying the code bar is totally impossible!
I used to do it very well with my old computer...

Hi..
Actually, I didn't understand everything, it opened a program (HP Health Check).
Then what do I have to do next..?

It seems that the problem is related to the HP PC. Indeed, the software "HP Health Check" has the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+C.
You just need to go to "start/programs/HP" and right-click on the program and click on "properties."
In the "shortcut key" box, you will see the infamous ctrl+shift+c; you just have to delete this shortcut (it will say "none" afterwards) and confirm!

There you go, you just need to launch the game now!

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me fix my issue!

Hello, I can't find the shortcut option. I've done everything you wrote, but that option is missing.

Thank you for helping me. When you're used to playing with a lot of money, it's boring to play without it. I didn't have any issues on my old computer, but now on my laptop.

Thank you.

Hi, since I've had a laptop, I can't open the Sims 2 cheat box. I've tried many times Ctrl + Shift + C and it doesn't show up. My sister has exactly the same problem, and since we have the same PC, I wonder if it has something to do with Vista, or if there's another combination that works since it used to work fine before with my other computer!

PS: I also installed Daemon Tools to emulate SafeDisc, but that hasn't solved anything!

Thanks to everyone who responds! =)

I saw on other forums (because I have the same issue) that to display the code bar you need to do
"ctrl+shift (the big arrow up) + "window" (the logo) then "C"
I haven't tried it yet, but apparently it works
I hope it works for you (and for me too ^^)

racoline > birujini

I just tried it, it works, but you have to:
hold down ctrl and shift and press windows and c, one after the other, while keeping the first two keys pressed.

Is there anyone who has a Vista computer and can enter codes in The Sims 2???

I don't know if it's the same problem as mine or not
but before changing my PC I had The Sims 2 and the code bar displayed correctly
A few days ago I changed my PC (I specify Windows VISTA) I installed The Sims (with some difficulty because it was a non-DVD disc, so I downloaded a patch to be able to install it on Vista, anyway let's get back to the point) and so the code bar I do as usual but impossible it doesn't want to display, and as I've seen sometimes, it may be that for some it's due to a cursor or I don't know what, I haven't touched the cursor so no it's not that, if you have a way please let me know :$
