Hello,
My 4 children have been placed in foster families; the first one for 7 years and the other 3 for 5 years now. Every year, the judge postpones for another year; they always find excuses. I would like you to respond very frankly. After 7 and 5 years, I think they will return them to us at 18. My husband is upset about this, and when they come back on weekends, they don't listen to us and laugh at everything we say when we give them feedback. And when we give them authority, it annoys us because they behave well in foster families. I'm losing a little hope that they don't listen to me. Please give me your opinion on whether I will ever get them back. Thank you.

Hello Melanie,
if your children are placed in foster care, there must be a real reason, not just because your husband yells at them when they come back to your home on the weekends. To be able to get your children back, you need to be motivated and do everything you can to make this return possible. Your husband also needs to be on the same page. If you encounter problems with your children when you have them, you should talk to the social worker (or the educator). Don’t hesitate to discuss the situation with your children and how you are experiencing it. And be sure to listen to your children about how they are coping with this placement.
I wish you the best in getting your children back; it won’t be an easy journey, so seek help from the social team around you. The judge is not looking for excuses to not return your children; he waits for you to be ready (physically, psychologically, and materially).
It’s up to you now!
Good luck.
