What is the connection domain?

Solved

Hello,

I installed Belgacom ADSL and Belgacom TV with the B-BOX and I can't connect via Wi-Fi with my laptop running Windows Vista. When I try to connect, it asks me:
the username => ok I know what that is!
the password => I know that too!
the connection domain => what is that?????????????????

I spent my day calling all the Belgacom numbers and being bounced from customer service to technical support etc. and none of them was able to help me or tell me what it means!!!!

Yet the connection works, the other PCs not running Vista don't have any connection issues and they are not asked for a connection domain.

Could you please help me, it's really frustrating not to know how to connect, especially when I'm in exams and need the internet all the time!!!!!!
Configuration: Windows Vista

To connect a laptop using Wifi (works for Belgacom customers with a secure local network):

1. Start
2. Control Panel
3. View network status and tasks
4. Manage wireless networks (on the left)
5. Click "add" at the top left
6. Click "create a network profile manually"
7. Type the name of the network you want to connect to
8. Under "security type" select WEP
9. Enter the code for the network you want to connect to
10. Check "connect automatically (if not already done)
11. Click "next"

And there you go, it should work!

Happy surfing!

Nicolas.

Hi Nico, it's Nico... you give me the impression of knowing your stuff, can you help me find the WEP key for my B box? I have a BB Curve 9300, and I can't connect to Wi-Fi... it sucks.

Hi biket, if you have another PC already connected to your box, check on that one in the control panel. Under "Network and Sharing Center," you have "Connect to a network," and then a list of networks will show up. Right-click on the one corresponding to your box and go to properties. There you’ll find the security type, the encryption type (I assume it's WEP), and below that the famous WEP key masked; to see it in "plain text," check "Show characters." There you have your WEP key, and I suppose you know how to proceed from there. You can refer to my previous post for help. If you're still stuck, don’t hesitate to ask again. I hope this answer helps you resolve the issue! :-)
