Hello,
Hello and thank you for trying to help me.
My JVC GR-DF540 digital camcorder won't stay on. I initially thought it was the battery, but even with a new, fully charged battery, it only stays on for 5 seconds and displays the message "battery communication error". However, it works when plugged in.
Have you ever encountered this problem and how can it be resolved????
Thank you.

I found the solution, here’s how I did it: I connected the battery ALONE to the power supply, I let it sit for a few hours, then I put it on the camcorder and linked the two with the small cable; good luck everyone, Adam.
Hello, I just bought a JVC GR-DF540E camcorder with the small original battery. After charging and turning it on, I get a message: communication error. The picture of the fully charged battery is displayed. I saw on the forum that there was a trick with a small cord that came with the camcorder. However, I don’t have this cord. What is it like? Have you received a response regarding this because right now, I’m lost, thank you for any help. Best regards.

Hello, I just bought a JVC camcorder, it works perfectly with the original battery but with a big generic battery I get "communication error"!
I found the trick on an English forum:
you need to connect the battery to the camcorder's power input with the small cord provided (the cord with two ends like for charging) and it works for me!!
Apparently JVC does this so that we buy the original batteries!

GREAT!
It works for me too.
To recharge it, I connected the power cord directly to the cam, I don't have any error messages so I think it's all good!

Hello,
I have the same problem...
But I have two original JVC batteries and I charge them directly with the cam....
And bam, communication error....
So for me, I don't understand why this is happening...

Hello again, I HAVE THE TRICK
I just consulted the JVC manual on page 11 regarding the supplied accessories. For my part, I have a power adapter reference AP-V17E which has a cord that comes directly from the power block;
It is mentioned, apparently according to the models delivered, an adapter AP-V14E plus the detachable cord (same reference) that goes with it. I think it’s this cord that is necessary. But I found the trick that works wonderfully: take some electrical tape. On the battery, the two copper pads in the center that have the letters "T" and "C" on the black plastic are the communication ports, while the other two are the "plus" and "minus" of the battery. Cut a thin strip of tape and place it on the copper terminal of the battery "C". This effectively cuts off the information exchanged between the battery and the camcorder. However, it gives the indication "IN COMMUNICATION" when you press "Menu/batt.Data" while the selector is on "OFF". The information remains displayed FOR TWO MINUTES. It is enough to put the selector on "A" or "M" for a few seconds for the information to display. I don't know, however, if you need to remove the tape during charging with the power adapter for the charging to work normally. Best regards to everyone that this might help.

Hello Nobal97 and everyone else,
I have the same problem as you, and I find your explanations very clear (thank you very much), but it doesn't work with the new battery I bought. My camcorder is the GZ-MG57SP. I was so happy that someone had found the solution... I don't know what to do anymore. Could someone help me find the problem??
Thanks in advance

I just came across this topic, and actually, only the cable between the battery and the camcorder makes the connection; you don't have to attach the battery to the battery mount. Personally, I did it like NOBAL on my GZ-MG630, I put a piece of tape on the battery connectors and loaded it onto the camcorder's battery mount, and it works perfectly!
Good evening,
I am happy that the tape system works on your camcorder. Shortly after, I sold mine because I found the image unsatisfactory. I bought a second-hand Panasonic DV, tri CCD, NV GS75, which always satisfies me and does not have this JVC recognized or not battery system. Enjoy your videos. Have a nice evening. Best regards.

Hello, I need to buy a battery for my JVC GR-DF540E and after reading all these messages, I'm a bit confused about what to do. I have indeed seen that there are several sizes of batteries but I'm a bit lost...
Could you please guide me!!!
Thank you very much

Hello,
In fact, although JVC is the inventor of VHS and S-VHS and has marketed excellent tape recorders, including editing models, of which I am still a happy owner, I was disappointed with this battery recognition issue for this type of camcorder.
Moreover, personally, I had an original battery and it didn’t work. It is certain that an original battery has a very high cost compared to a compatible battery which ultimately provides almost the same service.
Personally, as long as JVC sells camcorders with this battery recognition system, I will not purchase them.
Imagine buying this type of camcorder to film important moments at a wedding and suddenly the battery is no longer recognized, what do you do? It’s a huge disaster.
When in doubt, the best thing is to refrain and turn to other prestigious brands that do not have this MAJOR inconvenience.
However, you can do as you see fit. I still have my PANASONIC, bought on eBay, which has a very nice image.
I hope I have helped with your doubts.
Best regards. And, happy filming!
