Hello,
I start my PC, Windows boots up and I get the message autochk program not found. Then the PC reboots.
I searched the forum for previous topics:
-I tried safe mode, it doesn't work.
-going to start run and typing a magic formula, I can't since I can't even access my desktop.
-the Windows installation CD, I press R to go to repair and then it asks me: "which installation of XP would you like to log on to?" I typed C, D, every letter of the alphabet has been tried but nothing works, I get an error message and I'm stuck.
What else can I do besides reinstalling Windows?
Thank you in advance to anyone who could respond.

Autochck - Not found
When the error systemroot/Windows/system32/autochk.exe not found. Skipping autochk appears at startup, it may mean that a value is missing or contains incorrect data in the Registry. Proceed as follows to fix the issue:
By starting/Run... (or Windows+r) type regedit
Select and back up the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager
Check that the Multi-String value named BootExecute exists and contains at least the value autocheck autochk * correctly entered, namely with a space between the k and the *. If the value is missing, recreate it.
If the autochk error occurs in conjunction with an XMNT2xxxx error, it is caused by Partition Magic. See XMNT............

But I can't access the start menu. The PC freezes after the Windows XP page appears on a black background. It's impossible to go further.
