Delete key disabled in Outlook

I can no longer delete the messages received in my Outlook Express inbox. Is there a remedy for this probably viral melancholy?

    what does Outlook say when you want to delete a message?

    You are talking about the "delete" key

    but if you right-click and choose "delete," does that work?

    no, it doesn't work even when moved to another folder (for example, the deleted items folder to make space).

    Look in your options in Outlook to see if there is something that allows you to reactivate
    in tools click on options then on maintenance and check the box
    empty deleted messages upon exiting.
