My text is disappearing

Hello,
I would like to know how to turn off that option in Word that makes my text disappear when I try to correct a word in the text; for example, it replaces the rest of the word, which means I have to rewrite everything. Please help me, thank you. 
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

    It's not hard. On your keyboard, do you see the delete, end, insert keys? Press Insert. Normally, that should work.

      It should display when you activate this function, just like the shift key, so that we know where it comes from when we modify a function ^^
