change the page color in Word. Solved

Question

Hello,

I simply want to start my document not with a blank page but with a black page...

After searching for a long hour, I am turning to you....

My version of Word is 2003, but I don't think this kind of manipulation will change with a newer version.

Hello,

With Word 2003, it's really simple:
Format, Background, and you choose your color.

To have black in every new document, you need to select this background in the normal.dot.

I just hope the goal isn't printing because you'll go through ink cartridges like crazy!!! :D))

Black screen while editing? I think we can change it to blue; it's in options, general, white text on blue background. For some people, it's more pleasant to edit.

Hello,

Would it be, after selecting the elements on the first page, Format --> Border and Shading --> Shading. In Shading, you choose "Solid" and the color black or automatic. On the Preview side, you indicate Apply to paragraph.
But I'm not a word processing specialist.

Like you, I couldn't find the right method, so I had to sidestep to achieve a satisfactory result.
The technique I used to get a blue page (or any other color) was to insert a completely blue image that I stretched as much as possible to fill the entire sheet. In the Picture Format, under the wrap tab, I put it in Front of text, I believe, and then adjusted the image to the edge of the page.
This is because the technique above leaves a white border around the sheet.
It's not orthodox, but it works.

There must surely be an easier way to do this with Word, but I don't know the application well enough.

I'm coming back to this subject, the technique of setting a format/background and image works very well, BUT the background then appears on the entire document. Is there a way to apply it only to the first page??

Hello,

First of all, you need to select, in the background, the function of printed watermark.

Then, in the File menu, Page Layout, Layout tab, check "Different first page".
Next, go to the View menu, Headers and Footers
Go to the second page, and manually delete the image.

An image inserted as a watermark is meant to be printed, unlike the other method which is only intended for display, particularly for displaying a web page. The printed watermark is essentially just an image added in the header below the text.

It's the only one that worked for me

go to the chosen page:
your chosen page or pages must be located in an isolated section
at the top and bottom by:
"section break (Next Page)"

if it's the first one or ones in the document:
the last page of this color
must end with: section break (Next Page)

to do this you need to click in the ribbon
layout/page break / next page break

which will be invisible but definitely there

to display it, you need to show what is hidden by clicking:
ribbon paragraph/the pilcrow sign

Pilcrow: is a kind of mix between a "P" pointed left and an "n"
(if you can't find it, do a search to show the hidden text) *************************************************************

So your section is isolated by an end-of-section page break

for your colored page
click on the desired page
in the ribbon click:
layout > Margins > Custom Margins

a box will open
at the bottom you will see (Apply to: this section)

you set top bottom left right margins to "0"

then in the ribbon
insert/Shapes / click New Drawing Area
a rectangle will display,
stretch it beyond the size of your page

Now your ribbon has a "Format" tab
and you are probably on it
see fill, click the color of your choice

the page or pages are now the color of your choice

you can put photos and text normally

Important note:
do not set the text the same color as the background
you won't see anything

Change the page color in Word.
