Hello,
I have a connection issue with the multimedia server. The PS3 detects it, displays all my videos from the PC, but the problem arises when I try to play a video, it gives me an error message "DLNA protocol error 2104", and the same goes for photos and music.
I don't think I've done anything special since everything was working perfectly before, except for the PS3 update 2.30 that I performed yesterday.
Can you help me?
Thank you

Hi, I found the solution.
You need to configure the PS3 in the Trusted Zone in your Firewall.
Steps to follow for Bitdefender 2008:
Advanced settings
Firewall tab
Then Zone window
Add
Browse local network
Browse
Click on the IP address of the PS3
Under type, choose Trusted
Then your PS3 will appear under Trusted Zone management
Next, under the same Firewall tab, go to the advanced window and uncheck stealth mode
Close it and it works!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, if your problem is still relevant, use this software https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/reseau-wi-fi/18559-ps3-media-server/ and it works.
Salut les loulous, moi j'ai le pare-feu Windows et je ne sais pas comment le régler pour que ça fonctionne et même en le désactivant ça marque toujours erreur 80710028.
Here it is, no more errors protocol 2104. The problem for me was my Windows firewall; you need to enter the IP address of the Livebox in the exceptions tab, click on add a program, then modify the scope in the personal list tab and enter the IP address and subnets, and it works very well. I have the PS3 on Wi-Fi, my PC too, and it's upstairs. No issues with the router or PS3 like many think...
Hoping to have informed you a bit more... good luck
"The PS3 has a loading time much longer compared to the Xbox 360; I have both and it amazes me."

First of all, I want to thank all the people who responded to the requests of others like me, struggling with this protocol error 2104..
Then, I would like to ask a question to Benj47, whose answer I tried to follow.. Or to anyone else reading me who might think they can help ;-) .. I go through the Windows firewall, under Vista, when I go to the ''exceptions'' tab, then ''add a program'' if I click on ''modify the scope'' and enter my IP address as well as my subnet mask, by clicking on ''ok'', then a second time to confirm, I receive an error message saying that 3gp player is already in the exceptions list.. Why? Because 3gp player is right at the top of my programs in the exceptions, grayed out..
That means I would need to highlight a program first to modify its scope, but which one?! That's the question.. Which is really making me struggle! (There's none that corresponds to the possible manipulation') Thanks in advance...

I have the same problem with the Windows firewall...
If someone could help us, that would be nice...

Hello,
Apparently, we are the only two in the world with this problem, lol!
Have you found a list of DLNA error codes? Personally, I only found the multimedia server error codes at the link below:
https://www.jeuxvideo.com/forums/1-60-2292695-1-0-1-0-0.htm
For my part, I've been struggling for about a week trying to access the audio, video files, and photos stored on my PC from my PS3, and I can't find a stable solution that allows me to play all these files.
I've tried Red Kawa, Tversity, Nero Media Home, WMP 11, but none of them fully satisfy me!!!
I often find myself with error 80710723, error 80710028 and various DLNA errors 2104, 501... the ports on my Freebox are open, internet access and online games are not a problem, but for file sharing, it's a whole different story!!!
If anyone has valid information on the subject, I’m all ears.
I think I've gone through all the tutorials... but for now, nothing has permanently solved my problem.

Hi, I have the same problem as you, I can't see my photos or videos from my PS3. The system loads a few photos before crashing and showing me the error DLNA 2104 Protocol...
I can't find any solutions.
My PC runs on XP and Media Player version 11.0.5721.5230 and with the antivirus BitDefender 2008
Thank you for your help.

FINALLY DLNA 2104 RESOLVED !!!!!
After extensively researching on the internet, I finally found a solution to fix my problem after trying all the following solutions:
- Freeing up space on the hard drive to ensure there is enough room for buffering
- Disabling the stealth mode of my Nod32 antivirus
- Firewall, opening ports 5001, enabling the service in exceptions, adding the PS3 IP address
- Setting a static PS3 IP address
- Placing the PS3 in the DMZ
- Connecting to the network gateway to open the ports and add the service
None of these solutions worked for me to resolve the DLNA 2104 issue!! But perhaps they might work for some...
My solution, which I highly recommend, is to turn off all the modem/router, PC, and PS3, then turn on the modem/router first and then the PC and PS3...
Launch PS3 Media Server and start a movie from your PS3 and it's magic, it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
Can someone translate into French? I don’t understand anything since earlier. I’m trying Vuze, it seems to be working but it’s taking 1 hour and 45 minutes to share on the PS3... At the same time, I'm trying to do the same thing with the LG BH6520T Home Cinema but I'm not succeeding. It talks about DLNA but I can't activate it. After installing Nero MediaHome 4, it can't find the Home and the Home doesn't receive it. Can someone please help me?

I also asked myself the question about Bitdefender, Michel, yet it worked very well with the same antivirus.
Rooster, I use WMP11, I’m keeping that one, it worked well before, I got another error code, the DLNA 2106, even by disabling the firewalls it doesn’t work.
I will look for it, I’ll keep you updated.

Good evening,
Same setup and same symptoms as Salut133, I called Sony today who suggested that I restore the default settings of the PS3 but the result is the same!
See you!

Hi, according to BD 2008, stealth mode makes ports potentially scanned by someone with malicious intent invisible. However, the Firewall and Anti-Virus should be enough on their own.
No further information.
Take care.

Hello,
personally, I've been getting a DLNA protocol error 501 for 2 days even though it was working fine... Well, I'm in class right now, so I'll check tonight when I get home while trying your solutions (considering I don't have BD but Avast -_-' ) and I'll keep you updated!!

Hello,
Well, I restarted my Play3 and my PC and ... no more problems!! But I still switched to Vuze, which I recommend to everyone!! Personally, I only use it to bridge the two, but it allows for a couple of other things that are more or less legal ...
Have a good day!!

DLNA protocol error 2104 on PS3
Hi, for me it was a disaster on Vista!!!!!
First, the media center couldn't find the
PS3: solution = switch from public network to private network
restart PC
Then the famous error 2104 on the PS3
So under Windows: security center/ (top left) Windows firewall/tab exceptions/change settings/add a program (PS3 media server)[click ok]/check PS3 media server and Java TM Platform SE Binary
-----------validate everything-----------
And personally, everything works

Indeed, once the stealth mode is disabled (which I hadn't done), everything works wonderfully!
Isn't it possible to configure BD 2008 more finely because completely disabling stealth mode seems to expose the system to intrusions...
Thank you for your help
See you later

solution from hi133:
Steps to follow for Bitdefender 2008:
Advanced settings
Firewall tab
Then Zone window
Add
Browse local network
Browse
Click on the IP address of the PS3
Under type, choose Trusted
Then your PS3 appears under zone management as trusted
Then in the same firewall tab, go to the advanced window and uncheck stealth mode.
what is the procedure to follow with Nod32 (ESET), please?
Thank you for your help.

I wanted to thank you, I've been struggling with the Bit Defender solution for a month, and I can finally watch my videos, etc., etc... THANK YOU, guys!
