Data source issue on Word

Indeed, if you put a title on the first line of your table, Word won't be able to find the source. And if you still want to include one, place it in the header and it won't interfere with the merge.

The principle of the merge: to merge a letter with a data source, you have the letter on one side and the data source in the form of a table where you've entered the recipients. You already know this.
The first line of this table must contain the headers (in your case: title, last name, first name, etc.). These headers are important because they are used as merge fields in the letter. For the letter to detect these fields during the merge, they must be on the first line.

To better master the explanation you need to give to your examiner, do a test. Prepare a table with a title on the first line and perform a merge. You'll see what they say. Then remove the title and try the merge again, which will work.
