Hi everyone
I'm setting up a motherboard and I have two possible options to configure my USB ports with the jumper, either +5V or +5VBS. What is the difference and what do they mean?
If anyone knows?

I know it's old but it might help some people!
First of all, +5vsb means +5 Volt StandBy, it's a signal. But be careful, it is by no means OPTIONAL, it keeps the PC powered even when it is off. If there is no +5vsb, the PC cannot turn on, you would sometimes need to reconfigure the entire BIOS, but in fact, without this +5vsb the PC cannot function at all.

But in the context of USBs, if you configure your USB ports to be connected to +5vsb, your keyboard and mouse will remain powered constantly, for example. This means that even when off, you would see the light on your mouse. This also allows, if I'm not mistaken, to "wake up" your PC with the mouse or keyboard when it is in sleep mode. But indeed, at the USB level, +5vsb is not mandatory.

Hello,

the +5V is used to power the USB ports
the +5Vsb is an optional power supply that allows the PC to turn itself back on when it's off, for example with an external modem when receiving a fax. It's called a standby power supply.
