edit mp3 file properties Solved

Question

Hey everyone,  I have some mp3 files whose properties I can't change. I go to the summary tab, and then to advanced, and I can only change the track number and title. However, I would like to change all the fields: artist, album, year, track number, music genre... etc...  Thank you for your advice because I'm freaking out. I never have the same artist names when I listen to my music on iTunes.  See you  baiano

I've been looking for ages and I found it all by myself... like a grown-up.  On Windows 10 / 9 / 8 / 7: go to the MP3 file and right-click go to properties go to Details (or Summary): position yourself on artist: click on value, modify position yourself on title: click on value, modify go to: apply, click go to ok, click and it's OK  If you don't have these options: Simultaneously press Win+R then type cmd and validate with Ctrl+Shift+Enter enter the command regsvr32 shmedia.dll and validate with Enter.   bye

Hm, try going directly to the properties of an mp3 file instead of the folder properties; it might work better that way.

Delete and uncheck the tag box, and save. Then reopen it, enable it, and you should be able to write whatever you want.

Hello, I have the same problem, and when I go to the advanced tab of the file properties, I can't modify the tags, nor check or uncheck them. Does anyone have another idea?

Hello,  I encountered the same issue: It was mainly the incorrect display of the listening list on MSN that bothered me. For instance, the title displayed: "from internet 2" To fix the problem without downloading utilities.... Right-click on the mp3 Properties Details Remove the properties and personal details Remove the following properties from this file and check the title.  After this basic manipulation, it’s the file name (easily renamable) that appears on MSN  Cool ;)  See you later!

I changed everything with Winamp! (because it's my software where I store my music library)  You put the file or album you want to play in Winamp,  then in the "playlist" you select all Ctrl+A  Right click, "file information"  Go to the "Standard Information" tab  and you change everything you want and all your modifications show up directly in your source file!  Moreover, I noticed that afterward you could modify in the source folder again, without having to go through Winamp  I think Winamp unlocks access...  There you go, it's as easy as pie ;)

Here is the solution to modify the properties  of an MP3 file (Author, Lyrics, etc...)  1/ Launch "Start -> Run -> Cmd"  2/ Type the following command: "regsvr32 shmedia.dll" without the quotes  3/ Close Cmd  There you go! Now you can modify the attributes of the MP3 file.

Hello,  I have the same problem.  1) I had mp3 files (Properties > title: "track1", "track2", "track3"...) but the file names in Windows Explorer were correct.  2) I used mp3tag... I was able to easily change the title (track1.mp3) to file name (In my place.mp3) => displaying the correct title in mp3tag explorer.  3) However, when I check the file properties, the name remained track1. What should I do?

I manage to write the properties, but it doesn't save! And when I confirm by "ok," they don't appear. And it turns out that when I go back to the file details of the .mp3, the fields showing the values are empty!

I hadn't seen your comment but I managed to do it! It was because of a software supposed to convert the music, but it didn't work! So I quickly uninstalled it and now it works!! ;)

Hello, you need to change the access permissions. Right-click on the directory where your MP3 files are located, select properties, then the Security tab. Click on users in the name of group or user window, click on edit, select Users again, then check the full control box and click apply. You should be able to modify your MP3s directly from the details pane (in the explorer).

On Windows 8: To modify file properties, you need to disable the read-only attribute of the source folder. For example, to modify the properties of music files: - go to your source folder (the music folder, where all your music is stored) - right-click on this folder --> Properties --> Read-only: {Uncheck} And now you can make your changes.
