Unable to read the disc on Wii Solved/Closed

Hello,
I have a problem with a game I bought: Super Smash Bros Brawl.
I tried to put it in my Wii and a message says: Unable to read the disc.
Moreover, the disc has no scratches.
I hope you can help me.

I have a technique that I use myself and it always ends up working...
You turn on your console with the game inside, then go to the game launch screen, the one with that annoying error message... then you eject the game from the console while staying on that same screen WITHOUT TURNING OFF THE CONSOLE, then you reinsert it; if you don't hear any noise, then it's dead, eject it again and reinsert it, repeat the process a few times until you hear that your game starts spinning in the console upon reinsertion... and, after repeating the process until your game finally boots, wait a few seconds and it will launch...

So that's what I do now every time and it always works even if I have to eject it and put it back in 2 or 3 times... I hope my little tip helps you...

Indeed, the reading issue with Super Smash Bros comes from the optical drive's lens! Since the game is double-layered, true Nintendo fans with an "old" Wii cannot read the game due to lens wear from hours of Zelda, Mario Kart, and other fantastic games.
To solve this problem, you need to change the lens, which, according to Fnac, costs around €150. I therefore recommend contacting Nintendo's hotline to get information about the possible coverage of this operation by Nintendo. This information is just a rumor, so it's up to you to verify by calling the hotline.

And one more person on this long list of people who bought the game for nothing!!! I gave it to my 10-year-old son who had been waiting for it for a long time, and the poor kid can't even play with it, I'm so disappointed... Sending his console to change the lens at a cost of 150 euros, you must be kidding!!! We still paid 49.99 euros for the game, so on top of that, we have to deal with extra costs; in this case, the game ends up costing us 200 euros!!! That's an expensive game.

The dual-layer game doesn't work on all Wiis. It doesn't necessarily come from your chip. I have the same problem... even though I have the original game!!!!!!

Hello, I would like to know I bought Super Smash Bros Brawl on June 30, 2008, in French. It worked well for about a year and then suddenly I was playing a brawl match and when I finished a match and wanted to return to the character selection screen it bugs and the game no longer runs in the console O_O' I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem.

Hello. We encountered a reading problem with SSBB (despite about 30 attempts: always the same error message). We spent an evening reading all the forums. We submitted our contact information in the Nintendo form for a return of the console for lens cleaning.
Given the information on the forums, we nevertheless decided to attempt cleaning the lens on our own by purchasing a cleaning disc. It turned out to be a good decision: in less than 10 minutes, the lens was cleaned, and the game works perfectly.
In summary, buy a cleaning disc, clean it, and it should be resolved if it goes like it did for us.
Be careful, ONLY BUY A WII (NINTENDO) CLEANING DISC, not the standard discs which will be ineffective. Because the WII cleaning disc has a pad (with 3 drops of a product to pour beforehand) that positions itself on the lens, and a handle that remains outside to facilitate manual movement for cleaning (read the manual, it's better described!). It actually looks like a little racket. It costs less than €7 at Boulanger.

you have to wait for a game to be released in your country and not buy it elsewhere (if you're French or Belgian, okay for bordering countries)
but if you buy them in America for example, it's out of zone that's why your Wii doesn't recognize it :)

I've got something even better, whether your console is modded or not, a very simple technique. Cut the power supply and the Wii, unplug EVERYTHING without turning it off (Radar, Power, TV display + USB key if you've plugged one in) – in short, everything at the back. Then stop playing for about 10-15 minutes. Plug everything back in. Try the game. It should work for about an hour for modded Wiis on the game played. For unmodded Wiis, it should work for the game played NORMALLY all the time. If that's not the case, as soon as the message appears, remove the disc WITHOUT TURNING OFF THE CONSOLE and gently rub the disc against cotton. This cotton is often used on pajamas. If it still doesn't work, contact Nintendo OR use the techniques mentioned earlier on this page.
