Hello,
I have audio files in mp3 format that are playable on VLC but they don't work in my car! What format should I use to make these files playable on any CD player? And if I need to change the format, what free (safe) software should I use? Thanks for your replies!!! I'm sure my problem is trivial anyway!!! Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

An audio compact disc is an audio CD that you find in stores (the audio discs, not the blank discs); the CD-RW you own is a rewritable compact disc (basically a data disc) on which you have burned files in MP3 format. A software player can read data discs and "understand" certain formats like MP3 or sometimes WMA, but not all car stereos are capable of this. Therefore, you need to check that the car stereo is recent enough to read CD-RWs and verify the audio formats it supports. It is especially important that it can read titles in MP3 format.
If MP3 support is not available, then you need to convert the titles to WAV and burn them onto a CD-R (not rewritable) with software capable of creating audio CDs (not data CDs).
To summarize:

To summarize:
- Purchase CD-Rs and not CD-RWs (old players do not accept them, but from what I've read, with -R it poses no problems since they are not rewritable, which also requires you to buy more if you want many compilations)
- Convert the WMA titles to WAV (.ogg), you should be able to find free software quite easily on Google or ask me for help in finding one ;)
- Burn the titles once they are converted with this free and efficient software: CDburnerPro
Thank you for your reply, I will try to test that tonight and I will keep you informed, thanks again for the time you took to respond to me :)
See you later!
