I think I am also a victim of this scam, unfortunately... I am also in contact with someone who is selling their car... They are asking me to contact them at 00229 9306 9959, I also did some research on this area code and I came across this site!

Don't sell anything without receiving the money first. We had the same problem when we wanted to sell a motorcycle, and we received an email. We managed to speak with the gentleman on the phone who told us he had sent the money via Western Union (the time to receive money for all countries is 5 minutes), but it had been 1 week and he was supposed to come pick up the vehicle. Do not trust them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I'm sending an email to get some more information (about shipping, shipping costs, if I could have a few photos and if they had a phone number...) I just received a reply "Good evening, We are a store selling Togo PS3 60GB consoles currently on promotion. We deliver our new PS3 consoles with the following accessories: 4 wireless controllers, 2 different games, a 24-month warranty card, cable + document. For your orders, you just need to give us the details of what you want and please send us your contact information as delivery is made to your home within 72 hours. Payment is final upon receipt and is made by money order, and we also provide an invoice to certify the final sale of the product."    And there, I thought it was suspicious, very suspicious. First of all, from Togo... (in Africa for those who don't know xD) the description of the email doesn't match exactly with the ad (e.g. 4 wireless controllers instead of 2, 2 games when the ad doesn't mention games...) in the ad they talked about payment on delivery and now they say "payment is by money order..." money order = very risky... and then the way they write, the mistakes, the sentence structures like: "a warranty card", "at a definitiveve title" and "please send us your contact information as delivery is made to your home" it goes without saying that delivery is made to your home xD and there is no "kind regards" "goodbye"... or signature... A company, a wholesaler or whatever always signs...  So all these little things make me doubt... I think it's a pure scam...  So be careful not to make this kind of mistake...  Flopyro ;)

The scam doesn't only concern cars. After posting an ad online looking for a mate for my dog, I received 3 responses. All offered me the gift of a puppy. Two had terrible spelling. But they all had one thing in common: a phone number starting with 00 22. Suspicious for people supposedly living in the Strasbourg area. One of the ads played on the heartstrings (death of the spouse), so I typed the person's email into a search engine. Result: he was giving away a car, 5 westie puppies... etc., all on different websites, of course. In short, a scam. In conclusion, let's be wary of ads that are too tempting and don't accept anything before seeing the "item" or the "animal" in person.
