Error code 39 Solved

Question

Hello everyone,
after installing a new DVD burner, and a bad manipulation (driver deletion), I have an error code 39 (Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. This driver may be damaged or missing. (Code 39)
Do I need to reinstall XP, because the ones I downloaded from the DVD do not work? The problem is I don't have XP, it was already installed and anyway I can't use my drive, same error.

Sure! Here is the procedure, I did it yesterday and magically found my CD reader and burner again, it's actually a bug in CD Creator that adds files...

You can start by backing up your registry just in case your problem isn't resolved (I didn't do it but oh well):

Start
Run
type "regedit"
Ok

File
Export
File name: registry_copy
at the bottom: Export range click on "All"

Close the registry

Open the registry

Start
Run
type "regedit"
Ok

Completely delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values from the following Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Restart the computer.

There you go.

I had the same issue. I called the support for my machine (Travelmate 8002 LCI), and they advised me to reinstall the machine, losing all my data...

Well, hats off... I struggled for two days (I had the same problem) and there,... after this tip it's working, I tried everything reinstalling XP without formatting, copying drivers, regenerating the inf directory, etc.

So I have a problem where my computer responds with an error code 39
I've had my computer for 5 years and until now there has been no issue with the disk reader and burner until this morning..
The disk reader works but the computer does not recognize CDs..
I went to the device manager and saw the icons for my CD and DVD drives with a yellow exclamation point in front..
I checked what was wrong and it told me there was a problem with the drivers..
Should I make the changes noted above or is there a simpler solution???

Good evening, at noon, my reader simply stopped working and showed code 39. The operator explained that I need to back up and reinstall everything. But I just changed computers, and I've been doing nothing but reinstalling for a month. Then, when I called my brother and his wife, he looked it up online and found Frédéric's post. I'm not a pro at fixing breakdowns, but with courage, I decided to give it a try, and my brother guided me. I have Vista, and “Run” is in properties, but we made it, we followed the instructions to the letter, and when the computer restarted/ EUREKA, it works!!! Thank you all so much. As for the operator, quite unpleasant by the way, she should come take a little tour here.  Sincere congratulations Frédéric, and no matter the key to the miracle, the important thing is to have had the kindness to share with all of us, even after a few years, it still works. Hello everyone,  after having the same issue, I went into the heart of the system to erase the uppers & lowers & miracle the drive appears again in My Computer, and works again, the only problem is the burner doesn't work (it does both). Hello,   to access the registry editor in Vista, just click on start, type regedit, and then hit enter.  Vista will ask you for confirmation (as usual!!!), you confirm, and there you are in the registry editor!!!  Next, you need to completely delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values from the following registry key:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}  After that, restart your computer, and it should work. Have you tried uninstalling the drivers in the device manager, then checking that your card is properly connected, and then reinstalling? Hi, I have the same problem, but with a Genius Look 1320V2 webcam. I can't find any solution, and for regedit, since the values aren't the same as for a CD drive, I have no idea what to do. The webcam works on another computer without any problem, but on mine, NADA! There is a conflict between the drivers. Have you tried uninstalling your webcam and reinstalling the drivers from their site here: http://www6.genius-europe.com/?tdfs=1&kw=Devices&term=Device%20Inventory%20Management%20System&term=Electronics%20Management%20Software&term=Customer%20Order%20Tracking%20Software&backfill=0? The drivers may have been updated.

It's all good! My problem got fixed by uninstalling an audio driver that "was not validated during the testing allowing for the Windows logo and checking its compatibility with XP." But I had to do several restarts and magically after one more restart, everything fell back into place (since I had no sound either!). But I should specify that Fred's method didn't help me! Anyway, I deleted the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the relevant key, restarted the PC, and the drive still hasn't reappeared. Hi everyone, I’m having an issue Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. This driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) Several possibilities, including: a missing driver, a corrupted binary file, an I/O problem on a file, or a driver that references an entry point in another binary file that could not be loaded. Uninstall the driver, then click on Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver. Under the device's General Properties tab, click on Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.  Does this mean it could prevent updates for XP?

Thanks to the two computer geniuses, I had a problem with Vista when installing a USB key for digital terrestrial television; drivers incompatible with Vista, then the problems with my two burners that disappeared with the famous code 39. I'm on XP.  Actually, I installed my MP3 normally by putting in the CD and everything, and it installed itself. One day my MP3 stopped working, so I went to the device manager and there I saw a warning sign, or I saw that I needed to do some updates... and since then I've had a lot of problems, codes, etc.

Oh miracle ! :-)  I had the same error code for an imaging device (scanner) and I found the registry key named imaging device... deleted the value and HURRAY !!!  I was really at my wit's end with this problem that wasted so much of my time :-)
