Hello,
I would like a reliable method to unlock my iPod touch 1.1.4 8GB. I would appreciate a step-by-step response with precise steps. I know there is a method with Ziphone, but I would like to know if I need to put my iPod in recovery mode, and if so, when, etc.
So if someone could really give me a step-by-step guide, that would be great. Thanks in advance and good evening.

If you have tried to jailbreak and your iPod is showing strange messages, press the home and power buttons simultaneously (iTunes must be running)... at that moment you will have the option to restore your iPod... if you are not on 1.1.4, take the opportunity to install the firmware before jailbreaking (see below)
1. download ziphone 3.0
2. download firmware 1.1.4 here: https://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ (if you haven't already)
=> http://www.itouchfrance.fr/hack/tutoriel-jailbreak-114-avec-ziphone-24
for those who are already on 1.1.4:
- disable the lock
- launch iTunes
- connect the iPod
- launch the Ziphone GUI and click on "Jailbreak" (DO NOT "eject" the iPod properly in iTunes)
- the iPod will process for about a minute
- once it restarts, disconnect it from the PC: the installer icon is there!!!
however, I have a 32GB iPod touch with the January updates (so the Maps, Weather apps, etc.), I tried to back up the apps from the January update via iTunes (https://support.apple.com/fr-fr/HT203977 ... obviously I haven't attempted the restore on this iPod because if it doesn't work, they will be lost forever!!! So I tried the restore on a 16GB iPod 1.1.4 that originally also had the January updates and had been jailbroken in the meantime... the apps do not appear :(
does anyone know how to back them up so that I can jailbreak and return to normal mode with these apps afterwards???
thank you

Yes dude !!
Actually, I just left you a message on the blog, but 10 minutes later I finished jailbreaking my 8GB iTouch, so I wanted to tell you that it works great and thanks also to those who invented this, it's awesome !!
Now I have version 1.1.4 with the apps and the January update, it's cool =)

I also have a touch 8G 1.1.4 for a week and I would really like to jailbreak it to get the iPhone apps, but I don't want to downgrade to 1.1.3. It would be stupid to go back to a previous version. There must be a safe solution with ziphone for 1.1.4, if not I hope it will come soon.
To jailbreak your iPod Touch on Firmware 1.1.4, 8GB (if it hasn't been done already by now), it's very simple and it works.
First, you need to download Ziphone 3.0 from the following site: http://download.ziphone.org/, then choose your version (MAC or PC), download and run it. Ziphone will install on your computer;
Next, make sure iTunes is closed to avoid the restoration prompt on your iPod Touch, and that your iPod is turned off. Connect your iPod, and Ziphone will open. Make sure to select the "iPhone/iPod" Touch jailbreak and not the one for the iPhone only.
Then, a bunch of numbers and letters will scroll across your iPod screen (don't panic, it's normal). Wait a few minutes, and once finished, you will see the INSTALLER icon on your home screen.
You can download WHATEVER YOU WANT!!!
(Tip: if you want to change your wallpapers and icons, download SummerBoard (SMBPrefs))
PS: I want to remind you that my jailbreak of my iPod Touch, using a PC, on Firmware 1.1.4 8GB went very smoothly. I based this on a magazine "Votre Mac et Vous" which qualifies this method as 98.8% reliable.
I hope this helps you achieve your ultimate goal.

But on the other hand, there are certain applications that do not work. I download them and when I launch them the game starts and then it returns to the main menu. Is it because my iPod is on version 1.1.4? I tried to install the games Balls, Aquarium, and another one. And how do you modify the iPod's "desktop"?
Not all applications work with 1.1.4 (I would even say most of them ;)
What do you mean by modifying the desktop???
Do you mean moving the icons???
If that's the case, it's simple, you touch the icon with your finger and hold it down for a long time and then you can do a "drag and drop"
For more information, feel free to ask me

I hope you will manage and it works with all versions because my iTouch is on 1.1.4 and it is a 16 G

So I connected it, iTunes came up, I left everything connected and everything open (iTunes) and I launched the Ziphone program. Then I restarted it and it worked, except that certain applications are installing but I can't use them. I don't know if it's because of 1.1.4?!
I have a 16GB iPod touch, I jailbroke it using this method, and now I have the January applications ... for free

No, it's fine, I solved the problem. I wanted to set a wallpaper (not the one that appears when you wake it up from sleep, but the one behind the icons) and in fact, I downloaded the summerboard file, and then I was able to go into smbpref, go into themes, and set it to Eagles, and I have the same wallpaper as when I wake it up (Simpsons magic :D)
Thanks anyway for your response and have a nice evening.

I had the same problem, restore your iPod using another PC. Then try reconnecting it to your PC; if iTunes complains and says the required program is not installed... uninstall and remove everything related to iTunes, QuickTime + Apple Update Software. Then reinstall iTunes from the Apple website, and it should work. If your music is only on iTunes, you will lose it, so make sure to copy it to a separate folder to keep it safe.
Hello everyone, I really have a big problem. I downloaded ziphone and when I was installing the first iTunes icon, it told me to restore the iPod, etc. Then my iPod stopped displaying stuff and shows a white screen like: bsd root: md9 ... and I can't do anything when I plug it into the computer to get it recognized. Please, I beg you, help me!!!! And if you want to reply, you can also do it by email at dylanbre@hotmail.fr. Thank you very much, goodbye!
P.S.: Try to respond as quickly as possible, thanks!!

You can do it without any difficulty with Ziphone 2.6 B (firmware 1.1.4). No need to restore the iPod in principle.
Remember to close your iTunes after connecting your iPod via USB before launching Ziphone and clicking the "IPOD Touch" button.
It works in 45 seconds to 1 minute without touching the iPod... it will turn off and on by itself.
Be careful, make sure to click on "iPod Touch" in the unzipped Ziphone 2.6 B

Hello... happy jailbreaking!
Hello..! I've jailbroken my friend's device because my computer has Windows Vista and it's a completely different installation, some people told me, but now I have another problem (the third one so far). I have the application installer on my iPod, but every time I click on a new app to install, a message appears saying: Error Package download failed. Can you please help me..! Thank you in advance.
Hello, I would like to remove Ziphone while keeping the apps from January because I bought them all. I was wondering if the apps I've downloaded might still be on iTunes, so I have these two questions. Thank you in advance.
I tried Ziphone for my iPod touch 1.1.4 but it completely locked my iTouch. How can I unlock it???? Please reply to me at the following address: sami_mrabet@hotmail.com
Hello,
I really have a big problem. I jailbroke my 8 GB iTouch with ZipPhone, but after I reconnected my itouch, it said that my iPod was not recognized and my itouch won't turn on anymore. Well, it does turn on, but it stays on the screen that says I need to connect my itouch to iTunes...
A big thank you to anyone who can help me

First, try to remove your email address if you don't want to be infected with spam (it's not certain, but there are risks). As for your problem, I'm not an expert, but I would try to put it in recovery mode (press the power button + the home button for 10 seconds until the iTunes icon with the cable appears) and then try to connect it either to your PC or to another one.
