How to remove footers in Word Solved

Question

Hello,
I have a problem with my Word 2007: each page opens with a footer that I can't modify or delete. These footers are locked and I would like to remove them to save space on a page. How can I do this knowing that the "normal" method (clicking on footer delete in "Design") doesn't work?

There is simply a ruler (to be added with the view menu ruler) and then with the vertical ruler increase the white area (up for the header and down for the footer, you will gain a few lines ....)

copy your text into a new document and do not copy the entire page so as not to include the footer too!!!

It doesn't work because when I launch my Word, it starts with the footer already installed!

Thanks for your help anyway! ;) The worst part is that I just installed it, so deleting it and reinstalling wouldn't do any good...

Maybe you made a mistake during the installation or you opened a Word template or something like that!

Click on the footer or header to delete, click on the button: show/hide document text, click on edit/select all and then cut, click on the text; the header and footer are removed.

Hello,

Having the same problem, I solved it another way:

There is a file named Normal.dotm that especially includes these footers and headers, and it's the one that annoys us.

So you need to find this file which should be located at D:\youraccount\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

D: or C: depending on whether you have 2 partitions on your disk / youraccount is the name of your account (of course)

Once you find this file, you need to:

1) Quit Word and possibly Outlook
2) Create a folder in this directory where you will copy the file "Normal.dotm"
3) Delete this file from the Templates directory
4) Copy the NormalEmail.dotm file and rename it to Normal.dot
5) Relaunch Word
You will still have footers and headers, but they will be empty. It's up to you to adjust your page height so it doesn't bother you.

It's probably a bit late, but this might be useful for others.
