[NAT Type Error with uTorrent]

Solved

Hello,
I have a perpetual problem when using uTorrent. I have a connection configured at 256kbps, but my download speed with uTorrent rarely reaches 14kbps.
At the bottom center of the uTorrent window, there is an icon that was initially orange, but is now red and indicates a "NAT" type error.
For my setup, I am using MS Vista Ultimate (in English), and Kis7.0 Both firewalls are active.
I have checked the status of uTorrent on the Windows and Kaspersky firewalls, it seems to be allowed. I had added uTorrent to the exceptions of the firewalls.
Finally, when I run the port test on uTorrent, it tells me in my browser that the port appears to be closed.
Can anyone help me??
Thank you.
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 2.0.0.11

You need to access your modem's settings and check if there is an option for LAN ports and allow UTORRENT to work by opening its port (UDP)... See you later

Hi GOUNINA. I think I've finally found the navigation interface in my modem. Try looking at this link please:

https://portforward.com/beetel/220bx/

Is this what you were talking about?? I'm not sure I can configure a static IP as required in this topic. My ISP doesn't support that option as far as I know. Am I on the right track?? Thanks

If someone still has this problem, try this in Windows:
- Control Panel
- Network and Sharing Center

You will find 1 or 2 networks in "Active Networks": your normal connection and (possibly) a VPN connection if you are protecting yourself behind a Virtual Private Network (HMA, Express VPN, etc...).

Check that both are set as "Home Network". If it's "Work Network" or "Public Network", click on the link and change it to "Home Network". Close uTorrent and relaunch it. If it fails, close the VPN and uTorrent and relaunch the VPN, then relaunch uTorrent. If it fails, reboot Windows.

No, I meant in your router at the place I told you, you put this number in UDP A+...

Hello

If I read correctly, you have 2 firewalls (Windows and Kapersky), that's not good at all, you should have only one active otherwise you'll run into problems.
Furthermore, you also need to open the port on the router.
Finally, check if by any chance you haven't checked the box PREFERENCES - CONNECTIONS - RANDOM PORT SELECTION because in that case, Utorrent changes its port every time it starts up. Bye

Hello GOUNINA,
thank you for replying to me. I have turned off the Windows firewall. Now Kaspersky is the only master of the field. I have checked, the random port selection at each startup of uTorrent is not checked. The small icon at the bottom center of uTorrent has turned orange again, and my port still doesn't seem to be open. The tooltip associated with the orange icon states that there is no incoming connection. Is that why my speed is low?? I don't know if a router is different from a modem. For my part, I have an ADSL2+ modem from Beeetel. Thank you for your help, I hope to hear from you soon.

Comprised, but how do I access the settings of my modem?

I don't know much about modems, so you're not with a provider (Alice, Free, etc...) because they provide a router... See you later

In fact, I'm hurting. You're doing well with a supplier, I believe (I don't know that one). There must be something in Explorer, like a program related to it. Check if there’s an icon or a line mentioning the configuration or quick access to this modem. They all have it to enable communication, read the manual that comes with your router A+

Thank you again for responding to me. If not, I don't speak English. Do you think it can work without configuring a static IP address???

I checked, and indeed there is something that talks about the LAN. How can I show you an image of what it looks like on this forum?

You right-click on the name of the site at the top (HTTP etc..) after highlighting it in blue and then you click "copy", then you return to your message and right-click again and "Paste"......... See you later

Here is the link: http://192.168.1.1/main.html

I would rather have created a link to a JPG image but I don't know how to proceed. I hope this link will actually take you to the image I have in front of me.

See you!

Here it is! I found out how to make JPG links. Here they are:

The following link shows what happens when I click on "NAT"

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/1460/natyy4.jpg

This link is when I click on "LAN"

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/9162/lanrq7.jpg

The third one is when I click on VIRTUAL SERVERS

http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/9273/virtservsr4.jpg

And finally, this one is when I click on ADD, in the VIRUAL SERVERS settings

http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/2096/addqh1.jpg

Do I absolutely need a static IP address for it to work??? Thanks again

Oops! I just now see the 12th post. I've already posted the 13th.

I believe my router is a Beetel. No manual came with it. The engineer from my ISP came to set up the connection and left right after. We didn’t speak the same language, he and I. On the device, it says "Beetel 220BxI ADSL2+ Modem."
I think I might have come across the device's site: http://www.beetelmodems.com/220bx.html
The only difference I notice between my modem and the one displayed on the page of the link above is the letter "I" (or the number "1") that comes after "Beetel 220Bx." On the modem on the page, there is no "I."
See you later!

None of these photos correspond to the settings of the application inputs and outputs. You have to look in each of the sections on the left to find a place where other applications that require this relationship should already be listed and that XP installs immediately. I think it could be in Advanced Setup. Moreover, it's all in English; I understand it well, but for someone who doesn't know the language... Is there any way to have it in French??

But give me the name and the reference of the router so I can look into it.... Talk to you later

I have the impression that we are evolving with a delayed message (if you know what I mean). The link led me to a Google page. It seems obvious, because I suppose the access path specified in that link is only valid for your system (if I'm not mistaken, as I'm far from being a network whiz).

The brand and model of my modem are mentioned in post 14 of this discussion (a bit higher up). I believe I notice that you are connected too. If permitted, I could write my MSN, so we could go faster!!

See you later!

P.S: There’s no way to put it in French. But don’t worry, I'm not a total ignorant in English!!

Were you talking about this?? When I'm in the left section, NAT settings, then VIRTUAL SERVERS, then ADD, in the dropdown menu "select a service", I chose e.g. "Age of Empires". And it displayed several values. Here’s the image:

http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/4756/aoehj7.jpg

In the list, there are several applications, but not uTorrent, nor Azureus, and so on.

Yes, I believe you are there, so try to register Utorrent by giving it the software's UDP... Keep me posted...

PS in link number 13 you can download the manuals related to your modem... See you later

Alright, but that's where I get stuck. I don't know the software's "UDP". I don't even know what it means. From here on, it's Chinese to me!!

Do you have any idea??

Ok, you open UTorrent, at the top you have several small icons, you click on the gear wheel on the right (Preferences), you go to "Connection" and you will see a number corresponding to its UDP that you enter into your Box...

OK. I see, it says "random port" and the value is 20825, but what do you mean by my "box"?? Which box are you talking about???

Thanks and see you!
