Hello,
I just received my long-awaited ASUS Eee PC and I'm facing a problem: I'm unable to connect to a wireless network with an Inventel box (AOL box).
I can detect the box correctly.
I have tried several different configurations, with or without MAC filtering, in WEP, WPA, even without encryption, and nothing works; each time it remains on "connecting."
I have only tested it on one wireless network, I will check on a second one to see if the issue is the same.
In the meantime, does anyone have any additional ideas for my problem?
Thank you in advance.

I found the solution.
I went to network instead of wireless network, then I went to create and I created a new network with a channel option set to a channel other than auto (personally, I set it to 7) and then copied and pasted the WEP key that I had on Open Office, not forgetting to press the association button on the box. And I connected directly to the network. I hope it works for you too.

Hello
I just saw your message, having had the same issue today I called ASUS and got the solution by email, and IT WORKS, if you're interested please give me your email address, I will forward it to you because copying and pasting doesn't work here
see you +++
Go to the "Internet" menu tab and select the icon "Network". In the "Network Connections" window you select the "Create" button.
In the next window you select the "Local Area Network - Wireless" option.
In the next window you select "Next".
In the next window you select "Dynamic IP address (DHCP)". Please consult your network administrator if your network uses static IP addresses.
In the next window select "Browse Wireless Networks".
In the next window you have to select "Enable wireless" in order to select the network. If you don't see your network click on the "Refresh" button to scan for networks. Click on the network of your choice and select the "Choose" button.
In the next window you select the "Next" button.
In the next window you select the "Next" button.
In the next window you can set the encryption settings. Leave it unselected if there is no encryption on the network.
Please consult your internet provider / network administrator for the encryption settings if there is encryption on the network.
In the next window you can set the name for the network connection.
In the next window you can select if the connection should be established automatically at system startup.
If you select "Finish" the system will setup the interface.
In the next window you can select "OK" to finish the setup.

oops, that's it... I feel very, very silly...
I found the following tip on a forum:
in Open Office, you type your WEP key
you copy it
you paste it at the time of connection, not forgetting to press the little button on your box.
Miracle....

Hello, I just bought an EEE PC with a 3G+ key from SFR. I don't know much about computers and I would like to know if I can connect it to my PS3 via WiFi. Thank you for your reply.
I have tried all the tips to connect my Orange live box with the Eee PC, but it remains desperately stuck on "in progress..." after entering the WEP key. Is there any additional trick or a block from SFR regarding Orange?
Thank you for providing the solution; I’ve already struggled quite a bit....

I struggled for a while too. In the end, I went to the configuration panel of the Livebox (http://192.168.1.1), then I created a static IP from there, put it on the EeePC, and in the DNS settings I used Google's (sorry, I can't remember the link where they are) and it works. The only "hick" is that every time we want to connect it to the internet, we have to press the WPS button...
I haven't tried it by Ethernet cable yet, I'll post the results as soon as I have time to do the test.
Hello! I solved my connection problem as follows: by default, your Livebox (Inventel) usually selects a transmission channel during its installation, typically channel 10 or 11. For my part, I changed this channel to channel 7. You need to open the management interface of your Livebox; the default password is admin and again admin. Then go to security, then 801g (something like that); a configuration page will open. You choose channel 7 instead of the one that is selected (I also advise you not to use WEP or WAP security). And there you go, you apply everything, restart your PC, then your Eeepc. Connect your Eeepc to the internet; it will search for the best wireless network (that is, yours). Don't forget, while your Eeepc is trying to connect to the internet, to put your Livebox in synchronization mode by pressing button number 1 (which is located behind your Livebox!). About 3 to 4 seconds is enough; the pairing LED will then start to blink (the first one from the left above your box), which means it will emit a Wi-Fi signal that your Eeepc should recognize and thus allow you to connect to the internet. There you go, I hope I was able to help you. Best regards.
Hi! Actually, it's simple. As for me, I have an Inventel Livebox and I couldn't connect my Eee PC to Wi-Fi via my box. After several attempts, a solution came to me, which is to change the channel that was set to default 10, to channel 7. (You can access the different settings via the Inventel page of your Livebox. Don’t forget to put your Livebox in association mode by pressing the button number 1 located at the back of your box, then restart your Eee PC and connect!! It works for me!! I hope I could help you, because it’s really frustrating not to be able to enjoy this great gadget that is the Eee PC. Best regards. C.
Hello,
Apparently, it's not that easy to configure the Wifi connection on the eee-pc!
By any chance, do you know the solution for connecting to a Livebox from France Telecom/Orange?
I've also tried all combinations of entering the security code, but it keeps "loading".
Could someone respond to my email? That would be really nice.

Hello, for the Wi-Fi connection on the Eee PC, you just need to enter the WEP key:
Make sure your PC is in Wi-Fi mode (FN + F2)
Click on wireless network and choose your Livebox
Enter your WEP key xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxxx xxxx xxxxx xx
Then go to network and click on connection
On the Livebox, press the button and it’s all set
There you go, I'm using an Eee PC.

I have the same problem but with the live box (also Inventel)
I'm going to try your trick of copying and pasting and the association button
let's keep our fingers crossed

Not even in my dreams: I tried to connect in 3G with a Mac and then with a PC, in both cases it dials, and the operator refuses the connection... at SFR, it seems that the 3G key only works with eeepc, despite the user manual for the USB key...
Thank you, Crochu, thank you very much!
You saved my Saturday, my weekend!
I was despairing of connecting my Eee PC to wifi...
It was a revelation when I learned that the caps lock didn't allow me to type the numbers ^_^
Thanks to you, my Eee PC is now connected (it only took a few seconds while I had been struggling for over 2 hours!!!).

Here is my problem with the SFR Eee PC: I want to network it with my main machine, which runs on Vista Professional Edition.
I've tried everything: Wi-Fi and RJ45, but nothing works.
If anyone knows the solution, I would appreciate it.

it might be because the numbers are not entered with caps lock in Linux: you have to type them with shift...
I have exactly the same problem as SL62, I called Carrefour (they didn't even know they had this device for sale!!!!!!! at customer service!!!!!!!!!!!! not bad!!!!), then I called Orange and everything works fine on my end with the live box, and then I called Asus.......everyone is passing the buck, it's impossible to get assistance and find a solution. I think theee PC must be restricted for Orange and probably other operators.......I hope to get a response, it has gone back in its box for return to Carrefour.
FINALLY MY LIVE BOX WORKS WITH MY EEEPC!!!!!!!!!! So, it's really simple, just do a test with the numbers and letters (it doesn't work like a normal computer), always put the key number 1 and it connects right away, in about 1 minute, and it works!!!!!! Note down your numbers that are under your live box. The EEEPC is really amazing, it opens in 25 seconds and there's no need to set up a printer, it works with 2 of mine... For my tests with numbers and letters, I went on work and there you go!!

your explanations were clear, I applied them but at the connection level it says ongoing for hours.
What should I do if you have a solution? Thanks a lot.
