Hello,
I recently installed Office 2007, and every time I start Word 2007, a message appears saying "configuration progress," which lasts for 2 minutes. Word finally opens, but I'm fed up!
Can you help me?
Thank you!!!!

I found this on the Microsoft website and it worked;
1. Click on Start then Run
2. Type Regedit and click OK
3. Locate the following Registry subkey and click on it:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options
4. Once you have selected the subkey specified in step 3, point to New in the Edit menu, then click on DWORD Value.
5. Type NoReReg, then press Enter.
6. Right-click on NoReReg, then click on Modify.
7. In the Value data field, type 1, then click OK. -
A little bump to remind that it doesn't work for Excel: this key (in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options) already exists and it has the value 1.
Thank you in advance for your advice. -
Indeed it works and it's very simple, I was afraid to touch the register but here, hats off and a big thank you.

Thank you very much, I was fed up! A solution that works and is well detailed, which prevents us from doing anything foolish. Thanks again.

Hi.
I have the same issue with Excel 2003 on XP.
This manipulation in the Excel key doesn't work in my case. -

Hello
Instead of fiddling with the registry, take a look at how you created your desktop shortcuts.
If you made them from the menu "Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > etc.: it should normally work, but ...
... if you get the message "Configuration Progress," you just need to create the shortcuts from the corresponding files (EXCEL.EXE, WINWORD.EXE, etc.) located in the Office12 folder (within this folder are other folders, the files are underneath, sorted alphabetically).
Right-click on the chosen file > Create Shortcut (to desktop). Do the same for the other applications.
To open the Explorer, press the Windows key and E together, go to C:\Program Files (or Program Files (x86) > Microsoft Office > Office12.
This method is especially valid if you have two versions of Office installed (Office 2003 and 2007, for example).
MS Office 2003 = folder Office10
MS Office 2007 = folder Office12
Good luck.
