Laptop that shuts down/overheats Solved

Question

Hello, Here's my big problem and it would be really nice if someone could help me!!!  So: my PC shuts down every time I watch a movie or play a game like WoW...:/ I’ve searched through forums to find a coherent help message but to no avail. I downloaded Everest and it shows in red 38° for the first processor and 47° for the second. Is this the reason? How can I lower the temperature? I've heard about cooling pads, but I would prefer something more durable. Additionally, I can't take my PC apart to apply thermal paste (isn't that a bit risky?).  THANK YOU IN ADVANCE :)   l

Hi Alicia,   I had the same problem with my PC recently; it was just because the fans were full of dog hair, so they weren't working properly... I had the fans cleaned and voilà! Problem solved!

Good evening Alicia,

the temperatures you provided are correct for a processor, are they taken when the problem appears or at the startup of your computer? They should be measured after at least an hour of operation.

Unless these values are inaccurate, compare with speedfan and let me know if you have the same results.

So your PC is clogged with dust and thanks to the thermal paste, I've lost 8°, so you should give it a try.

I have a laptop so for the thermal paste... :/ And should I use a vacuum cleaner on the ventilation grilles? How do I clean the fans?

I also have a laptop and I managed to do it without any problem and without a degree in computer science, so there you go. But using a vacuum cleaner is useless; you first need to blow the dust off with a can of compressed air so that it detaches, then you can vacuum it. There you go :)

Hello!!
I have the same problem as you, and if your laptop is overheating, it's either because you're on a bed, which prevents the vents from circulating air, or if you're on a desk or something similar, it's that your vents are "blocked". You need to go buy an air spray (about 11 euros) at a specialized computer store, spray a little on your fans, and everything should work normally! :)

Hi, I also had the same problem with games like Minecraft, my laptop struggles to handle them and shuts down for safety reasons.. I found the solution: BUY A FAN!!! But still... it keeps shutting down... Sniff, that's why I'm hoping for a response from you to solve this problem....
