Hello, I’m new to this site, which seems very interesting. I registered with my real name on the Yahoo site and now I'm bothered by that; I would like my real name to no longer be displayed in my emails. I have changed my profile to another name, but the person receiving emails still sees my real name appearing. Can you help me because I’m not very good with computers, thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello everyone,
Indeed, since 2008 (the date of this post & responses), there have been changes to YahooMail... thus, the method to "change the name appearing on emails" has also changed!
Here’s (as of today) how to modify the name visible in the emails received by your recipients:
1/ YahooMail < Options < then Mail Options.
2/ In the left menu, click on "Mail Accounts".
3/ Click on "Yahoo! Mail" located just below the title "Mail Accounts".
4/ In the "Sender Name" field, write the name you want!
5/ Save by clicking on "Validate" (at the top of the page)
The changes will be applied immediately.
@+
EDIT/ The option is valid for classic Yahoo! Mail as well as for the newer version of Yahoo! Mail.

Hello everyone!
Fiesto, to change your first and last name that you entered during your Yahoo registration, you can simply do it by going through your account options.
Open Yahoo < click on Options (at the top right) < then on "General Preferences" < you just have to change the sender's name < ok.
See you later

Hello,
Just to add that the manipulation only works on classic Yahoo Mail, I can't find the option in the new version...

You're welcome, I think it's the best solution, because I don't know if it's possible to change an address like that!!
Hello and thank you especially to you Gaelle who is willing to help me, as well as to the other people who want to do the same.
First, I have classic Yahoo.
When I open Yahoo after logging in, on the homepage, there's at the top, below 'Home' and 'Inbox'
HELLO, and next to hello appears my real name, and that's the one I would like to change.
However, I've modified my Yahoo ID without any problem and there my real name doesn't appear.
Thanks, see you!

Hi,
you can create another email address that doesn't include your name...
and keep the other one for important things like work, certain registrations, family...

Well, I just tried to create a new address but it’s not working. Can you explain to me exactly how to proceed? Thank you in advance.
You must go there and follow the instructions:

Hello, thank you for your response Gaelle, but when I go to options, I'm sorry, there's no (general preferences).
On the Yahoo identity card, I have changed my name, but when I open Yahoo, my first name appears, and if I send an email, the person receiving it sees my first name. Can you help me, thank you in advance.

OK Fiesto, hello.
Do you have Yahoo Mail Plus or Yahoo Classic? This option is available for Yahoo "Classic," but you must have "general preferences" or "account management" in your Yahoo Mail options.
However, if you're talking about the email address itself, for example: Carlos&Sonia@yahoo.fr, we cannot change the names of an address! The address will remain as it was created! The only way to change is to create a new address.
But if you want to change the name that appears when you send an email, meaning when you registered, you can change it through the Yahoo account options. (Make sure to click save after the change, close Yahoo, and restart)
Keep me updated..@+

OK Fiesto, do you want to change the name that appears when you send an email, or change the name that appears on Yahoo Messenger?
If it's when sending an email, here’s what to do:
The options are in your inbox, open your inbox, then click Options (at the top right), then click on "General Preferences", from there you can change your name.
Keep me posted..@+

Re Gaelle, obviously for me it doesn't matter if my real name appears, it's for the person receiving my email that I want to avoid them seeing it, you never know.
I'll do what you just advised me.
Thanks again, you are too nice.

I just did what you told me, when I click on options I have: mail options, color, discover mail plus, import contacts, use the original version.
No "general preferences".

Thank you Gaelle, I managed to do it thanks to you. Just one detail, as I was at it, I wanted to add another email address on Yahoo, which will become my primary one. When I try to log into Yahoo just to check if it worked, I only enter the first part of my new address and my usual password, and it says error, right?
Thanks to you and see you later!

Hello!
I’m afraid you might be infected with the w32.M@lpolitus virus! Click on the following link to fix this!
=> http://shp13.free.fr/divers/humour/malpolitus.swf
Then click on "Ask your question" at the top of the site, create your own thread on the forum, then rephrase your request without the "virus"!
Thank you, @+

Hello, I just opened an email account on Yahoo.
I would like to change the name that appears when I send emails.
I have read this discussion, I even changed the version of Yahoo and I can find absolutely nothing in the options (or anywhere else) to change my name. It seems I have tried everything ....
Can someone help me? Thank you in advance.

Finally a solution that works!!
Yahoo really went above and beyond to create so many difficulties just to modify it!!!
Thanks again because I would have NEVER found it.
There you go, I looked ridiculous with my silly username...
Now, I'm living again, I’m no longer ashamed of myself, I'm sending emails to the whole world!
Kisses!
