GeForce 8400 GS Nvidia problem detecting TV

Hello,

I just built myself a brand new PC, with an NVidia GeForce 8400 GS graphics card, I downloaded the latest drivers directly from the NVidia site.

My problem is that there is no image displayed on my TV. First I had to go into the NVidia Control Panel and force the detection of the TV after rebooting "new hardware detected etc..., DV output installation".

The NVidia Control Panel has therefore received additional options, I configured the display in clone mode, but there is still no image on the TV when I switch to the channel corresponding to the TV I get a "no signal" message, and when I go into the NVidia panel on the TV options it tells me no TV is connected to this computer, even though everything is properly connected.

Has anyone ever had this kind of problem or could you help me solve it?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Wally

Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.11

I don’t know if this can help you but here’s what I did

I plugged my PC monitor into the DVI socket instead of VGA and the problem was solved

apparently on these cards

default display is DVI and not VGA
secondary display is S-Video
and then only VGA

If you bypass the DVI output you will have dual view and screen recognition problems, that's what the support told me after 10 emails

I did what they told me and the problem was resolved
there you go for me, I hope it will work for you too ;)

Well, this kind of thing is difficult to configure; maybe you forgot something or did something wrong! explain to us the cabling of your PC to the TV, and the display mode you chose. often you have to set it to 800-600 because the TV does not accept above that! check that first and review your cabling; if it doesn’t work, come back to us!

Hello again and thank you for your response

So all the cables are properly connected
TV: Acer AT3720

I don’t know the names of the cables very well, so I’ll try to describe them to you

SCART plug (connected to SCART 1 on the TV) to 2 plugs. One that I connect directly to the audio output and one to which I had to add a female RCA adapter (if I’m not mistaken) towards S-Video

I used to have an ATI RADEON 9250 and everything worked fine (but it burned out, snif)

For the display mode I tried the following:

1 - Clone: no success
2 - DualView: no success either

The resolution on the TV screen is indeed 800x600, I can’t go any lower

If you want any other information I’m at your disposal
thank you again for your help

Hello,

I have the same problem with the same graphics card, except that I have the S-video / RCA 4-pin adapter and I can’t get any image on my TV in any mode. However, by tweaking the graphics card options, I get flashes of images from my computer on my TV. It also tells me that no television is connected.

If anyone has ideas, I’d love to hear from you. Thanks in advance

Hello On my new PC, with the same graphics card, I had the same problem with a 4-pin to RCA adapter. The store where I bought this PC found in stock a 9-pin adapter (the graphics card has 7 pins, but a 9-pin socket is compatible; the two extra pins are located where the black bar on top of the 7-pin female sockets would be). This adapter is a 9-pin male with 2 possible outputs: 4-pin female and 3 RCA jacks for HD TV. I plugged my RCA plug into the blue output (one of the 3 RCA jacks) and it works. No more display flashing, just a very clear image in color (aux input without enabling the TV’s SVHS option). Hoping to help those who, like me, struggled trying to adjust all the PC and TV settings to make it work.

With a 9-pin adapter it didn’t work reliably, so I bought a 7-pin adapter and everything works perfectly now ;-) thanks for the help!!

Up

Same problem with the 8400 GS cart: image flash on the screen during the operations

Connection: svhs 4-pin adapter / rcA to RCA cable to SCART (TV with VHS or SVHS option, both have the same issue)

Thanks in advance if you know how to stabilize the image

The problem may be on the TV side. How can it guess that it’s being fed from PERITEL, from the VGA connector, from the RCA inputs, HDMI, and all the rest? Be kind to it, find a thing like “input select.”

The thing is I didn’t understand at all this story about a RCA pin adapter and SVHS, sorry but I don’t know it at all. I thought I had found a tutorial on a forum but they don’t talk about my problem, so if your thing really works could you explain it to me in a way that I can understand it please?

Hi, I have the same problem with the same graphics card 8400GS-H4E3DH; no TV detection when I connect it to the S-Video output. I’ve tried everything, except changing the original accessory cable (S-Video RCA). I don’t have a HDTV, just a regular TV. If someone has found the solution, please share it. Thanks, good luck.

Here are the steps that allowed me to configure this card

1) connect the PC screen to the card's DVI output using the DVI/VGA adapter provided with the card
2) connect the TV to the card's S-Video output
3) reboot the PC
4) then go to the control panel, "add new hardware" (it will detect your TV several times)
5) open the Nvidia control panel
6) choose the display mode
7) and there you go it worked

That's what I did to get this card working
