Final Fantasy 8 PC installation issues

Bonjour,

Can someone help me? I can't install Final Fantasy 8 on PC. I put in the installation CD, the automatic application appears, I click on install, Vista asks me if I want to use this program, I click allow, then it seems to be loading and nothing happens.
I've already tried in compatibility mode for Windows 98 and XP, but it doesn't work either, same thing. Can someone tell me how to proceed?
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 2.0

I found the solution :D
And it's not nothing to say that
I'll explain: the installation problem that won't start :D

You should know that the ff8 setup uses InstallShield, but the version that the setup is trying to use is version 5
The problem under Vista is... there's no version 5, only versions 2.0X, 6, 7, etc.

Solution -> Restart your PC in Safe Mode
-> Launch setup.exe
(However, for my part, I had to dig out the installation CD from under my floor, and yes, Daemon Tool in Safe Mode... that hurts)

So go Safe Mode and /happy

I'm glad to hear that the installation went well and that you managed to get past the "disc 1" hurdle. However, there seems to be a minor issue as I encounter a crash to the desktop whenever a battle starts, with the message that FF8.exe has stopped working. Just to mention, I'm using Windows 7... Thanks in advance if you have a solution! ;)

Hi,

Know that even in compatibility mode, some games do not work at all under Vista!

And I wouldn't be surprised by this game, as I doubt that its publisher (Squaresoft, I believe) will make the effort to release patches to fix the issue!

The lack of support from these publishers is really disconcerting.

I saw in other topics that some people had problems getting the game to work on Vista, but they managed to do it. However, I can't even start the installation; it should be possible since some people are playing on Vista.

If you've seen someone who managed to make it work on a topic, it means they were providing the solution to the problem, right?

No, he was saying how to avoid the bugs of the game once installed, but not how to install it; it was the installation that wouldn't start. But it's fine, on another forum from another site, I saw that I just needed to set the computer to 16-bit instead of 32-bit and compatibility with Windows XP, but thanks anyway.

I INSTALLED FF8 ON VISTA WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS, BUT TO INSTALL IT YOU HAVE TO GO DIRECTLY TO THE CD AND EXECUTE IT AS AN ADMINISTRATOR WITHOUT TOUCHING THE COMPATIBILITY MODE.

I managed to install it.

But when I try to play, I click on new game and it crashes... it automatically exits the game.

If I go to the CD, I see various folders that I can open...
