Samsung YP-K3 MP3 Player Solved

Question

Hello,

I installed the software provided with the Samsung YP-K3 player, connected my player to the PC, so far no problems.

However, once data has been transferred to the player, how do I safely disconnect the USB cable and retrieve the player?

With my old MP3 player, I used to get a message saying: "you can safely remove the device" but not this time, so I'm afraid of damaging the player.

So contrary to popular belief, the k3 is not a video player, only an mp3.
For those whose computer cannot recognize it, it's simple: (under XP) just go to the Control Panel and if it's not the case, click on "Switch to Classic View" then "Sound and Audio Devices" and in the Hardware tab select YP-k3 and finally "Troubleshoot" and if everything goes well, everything will be unlocked...

Hello, I have the same issue with the Samsung YP-U3 model. In fact, this MP3 player styled like a "USB key" is not recognized as an external hard drive by Windows XP Pro, which means that no letter like E: or F: is assigned to it, and thus the device disconnection protocol does not apply. As a result, the right-click context options are not usable. I'm wondering if disconnecting it while it's hot might end up damaging it. So this has nothing to do with my old Archos, which behaves exactly like any hard drive. Maybe a firmware update is needed, or perhaps I'm just not doing it the right way. I've surfed quite a bit to find concrete answers, but none address this problem clearly. To safely remove the MP3, you need to go to the menu in the top left above the playback bar, click on it, then on portable device, and safely remove the device. There you go.

Apparently, all Samsung readers must be affected, I have exactly the same problem with the S5: not recognized by the PC, not recognized by Media Studio. On the Samsung website, it's not much better: the download links for the latest versions of the software and firmware don't work, nor do those leading to the frequently asked questions.

Well, I finally managed to get it to work, but on a friend's laptop (let's just say it's very convenient: I have to wait to see him to be able to add or delete a song!!!)
Indeed, first of all, you need the latest version of Windows Media Player, but apparently it doesn't work with very old versions (really old: even the one from 2007 doesn't work) of Windows XP...
So there you go, it works for me even though the makeshift system on my friend's computer isn't practical; at least it works!! And when it works, you have to admit it's a great product, easy to use...etc, so GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I wanted to add some music to it using the Samsung Media Studio software and it’s not working =( I get a message that says: "File transfer to the portable device failed" !! It's all good, I succeeded!!! I had to uninstall everything, reset my MP3, and start all over!! However, I can't safely eject my MP3 =( I clicked on the menu above the playback bar, but "safely remove portable device" is grayed out, so I can't click on it!! I'm afraid to damage my MP3 if I keep unplugging it without doing anything!!

Hello everyone, I have a Samsung YP-K3 JZB and to unplug it, you don't need to do a lot of things, you can just unplug it directly, it won't cause any problems for your player.  As for me, I don't use that damn software, it's not necessary.  And for the computer to recognize it, just plug it in, and when the new device installation program pops up, click on cancel, unplug it, and plug it back in.  There you go.

In fact, I researched a lot of blogs and the idea (and especially the solution) that keeps coming up on all the blogs is to download your music with winamp version 5.5; with this your K3 is recognized and above all you can sort your tracks as you wish... Hello! I have a problem with my YP-K3 regarding the battery The seller told me to charge it for 8 hours the first time, wait for the battery to fully discharge and then charge it for another 8 hours! After that, I could charge it normally, meaning 2/3 hours However, I didn't do the 2 times 8 hours and my battery drains after about 3 hours of listening, even though the battery life is supposed to be 38 hours!!!! I know that I didn't wait for it to completely discharge the first time to charge it because when I put music on it, it automatically charges, and I think it's the same for everyone (in terms of automatic charging). It might be a problem with your MP3 =S. You can always go back to the store and ask to exchange it; maybe there's an issue with the battery... I can't say more, sorry...

You are useless or what? For the K3 I don't even go through the provided software! I plug it in, Windows detects it (XP), I go to 'My Computer' and double-click on the drive (which is at the very bottom when you rearrange the icons by "type"). I enter the music folder (written in English, and it should not be changed), I paste my Mp3s that I carefully copied just before, and there you go, it works! That's it! To those who say that Samsung is useless or crap, I reply that for me it works perfectly and I sincerely thank them for this product! Before questioning someone's performance, ask yourself about your skills!

But if you just directly copy the music through "My Computer," it's not great because afterwards, it won't necessarily create a proper artist list, you see what I mean =S? Pour mettre des vidéos sur votre MP4, suivez ces étapes :

1. **Connectez votre MP4 à votre ordinateur** à l'aide d'un câble USB.
2. **Ouvrez l'explorateur de fichiers** (Windows) ou le Finder (Mac).
3. **Trouvez votre appareil** dans la liste des périphériques.
4. **Ouvrez le dossier** de votre MP4 pour y accéder.
5. **Glissez et déposez** les fichiers vidéo que vous souhaitez ajouter dans le dossier approprié de votre MP4.
6. **Déconnectez votre appareil** en toute sécurité une fois le transfert terminé.

Assurez-vous que les vidéos sont dans un format pris en charge par votre appareil.

Hello Machille Following your issue, have you tried holding the power button down for a few seconds (normally 10 to 15 seconds)? It should turn off and upon restarting everything should go back to normal... If nothing happens, let it completely drain then charge it COMPLETELY and try again... Keep me updated on the result...

What a mess in there!  1 universal solution --> install the Korean firmware!!! With it: no more artist problems, files are sorted by name and alphabetically, you can create one folder per artist, per style of music, or however you want (renaming files is no worse than tagging them, for the naysayers) no more compatibility or recognition issues: European firmware --> MTP --> WMP10 mini thus XP or Vista ONLY Korean firmware --> UMS --> NO driver (except for Win98 as always), it is recognized as a USB stick, copy/paste music without problems. This also solves the car radio issue. Mine recognizes the K3 without any problem, yet it's a low-end brand :P The Samsung software becomes useless at the same time, except maybe for automatically resizing photos, but even then we can do better... As for battery life, according to two tests I've seen online, it's 24 hours non-stop (so less if you play with the screen or if the music is at max, especially on speakers) for my part, I must be between 15h and 20h which is already very respectable.  For information on batteries in general, I noticed that with a new battery you indeed have to charge it maximally, then discharge it fully, then recharge it again to the max and then it holds well. A little advice from experience, for normal use, recharge the battery BEFORE it runs out otherwise it won't hold the charge properly and will wear out very quickly; and of course, do not leave it charging for too long either or it will overheat and wear out too ^^  Firmware and tutorial available here: http://forum.generationmp3.com/Difference_entre_les_firmwares_du_YP_K3-t51025.html The main thing is to set it back to French and to set the radio frequencies to "other" (if you look for Korean radios it might not work xD )

Hello to HELP ME I don't know if it can reassure you but I also have very low standby autonomy, even though the MP3 is supposed to last 38 hours (and not 25 hours as you said), so I don't really know where the problem comes from... Did you charge it for 8 hours initially and then let the device discharge until it was completely out of battery, then charged it again for 8 hours? Because the seller told me to do that (only for the first two times) but I didn't leave it long enough (about 5/6 hours), I don't know if the problem comes from that or not... Hello everyone!!  As I see after reading your messages, many people have had the same problem as me: when inserting the MP3 into the USB port, the hardware is not detected.  After looking for 3 hours, I finally found it: plug your MP3 into the USB port, go to the start menu, then to control panel, "switch to classic view," then "Add hardware." Select the MP3 and follow the procedure.  After that, everything works normally.  I hope I helped you!!!

Hello I have the same problem when trying to safely remove my MP4; I also don't have "safely remove" options, and I have a Creative ZEN. The provided program works very well, but when it comes to removal, it's not possible. And to say, you never remove a memory device without having the "safely remove" option, or you have to turn off your PC, lol, but we shouldn't exaggerate either. If someone can provide a solution for safely removing their device without having the option because it doesn't show up in removable devices, that would be appreciated. Also, in response to some, you never remove memory while it's hot because it works at times without us knowing, and that can be fatal for the device's memory. Hello everyone! I bought the Samsung YP K3 about a year ago. Same problem as you, no safe disconnection possible! I'm not panicking, I think it's probably an MP3 that doesn't require safe disconnection and has a micro inverter that shuts it down without damaging the memory. Anyway, 6 months later the problems start... The MP3 starts bugging out everywhere --> on one hand, songs disappear and become unreadable, on the other hand, songs restart in the middle or even on a different song when you turn it back on, and on top of that, the MP3 gets stuck on the Hold position even though the button is indeed disabled! I took it in once, they told me it's a problem with the internal disk and that it needs to be safely disconnected, HOWEVER, this function doesn’t appear in the taskbar and remains grayed out on Samsung Media Studio! Believing it to be repaired, I left only to return a month later with the same problem, resulting in an exchange for a new internal disk + a change of the front panel! I really don't want this problem to happen to me again, especially since the warranty is about to expire... I tried to disable it in the device manager but no luck... I updated the drivers, reinstalled SMS, but still nothing... It's driving me crazy! So if anyone finds out how to safely disconnect this damn MP3, please help us all out because we really need it!
