Question

Hello, I bought a giant universal remote JUMBO. The manual is translated into French 'word for word'. I can't get it to work. Can someone help me? Thanks.

AUTOMATIC CODE SEARCH SETUP  1- Turn on the device you want to configure. 2- Point the remote control at the device 3- Press the button for the type of device (TV, DVD, VCR, …) you want to set. 4- Hold down the SET button until the LED stays on continuously. 5- Press the Power button and release it. The LED will first turn off then blink once every 3 seconds.  Note: During the search, you can press UP or DOWN to change the direction of the search. 6- When the device turns off, press the OK button to save the code. 7- Check that all buttons are functioning properly. If not, start again from step 3. Note: During the search, you can press any button (except OK, UP, DOWN) to cancel. SETTING BY CODE ENTRY  You need the list of codes to manually select and enter the correct codes for a specific device.  1- Turn on the device you want to program. 2- Look for the brand in the list corresponding to the type of device. 3- Point the remote at the device and press the CODE SEARCH button for at least 3 seconds until the red LED lights up continuously. 4- Press the button for the type of device (TV, DVD, VCR, ...). The LED will blink once and then stay on. 5- Using the number keys, enter the first 3-digit code. Each time you press a number, the LED will blink once. After you have entered the 3 digits, the LED will turn off, indicating that the code has been recognized for the device. Note: If the entered code is not compatible, the LED will blink several times. You will need to restart from step 3 with a different code. You have 30 seconds to enter another code. 6- When the LED turns off, press the ON/OFF button. If the device you are trying to control turns off, you have used the correct code. Otherwise, restart from step 3 using another 3-digit code. 7- Make a note of the code for future use.    SETTING BY CODE SEARCH  This is an alternative method to program your device without using the list of codes. The remote will scan through the list of codes to find the one that corresponds to your device.  1- Turn on the device you want to program. 2- Point the remote at the device and press the CODE SEARCH button for at least 3 seconds until the red LED lights up continuously. 3- Press the button for the type of device (TV, DVD, VCR, ...). The LED will blink once and then stay on. 4- Slowly and repeatedly press the ON/OFF button on your remote until the device you are trying to program turns off. Note that the LED will blink once each time you press the ON/OFF button. 5- When the device turns off, press the ENTER button to store the code. The LED will turn off.   --  Errare humanum est, perseverare diabolicum.

This translation is valid for a JUMBO remote control from the company Innovage.
However, this company has recently released another model called JUMBO FORMIDABLE, for which the manual is not the same. In particular, it uses 4-digit codes instead of 3. But there are other more troublesome differences.

I am currently trying to obtain the manual to translate it into understandable French.

Hi, I just found out for the programming.
You turn on your TV
on the remote control: you press TV, the light emits a red light, then you press and hold SET until the light stays on, then you press sleep at the top right of the remote control and press UP and it searches by itself. Once your TV turns off, you press OK and it is programmed.
There you go.

Nothing is mentioned regarding the duration
Don't lose sight of the fact that universal remotes are not as universal as their manufacturers would like to claim. It is not uncommon to encounter incompatibilities.

The problem with these Jumbo remote controls is that there are at least 3 different methods, depending on I don't know which criteria, to search for the code of the device in front of you.

These methods are explained in posts 3, 6, and 11.

Note that some remote controls use 3-digit codes and others use 4-digit codes.

Hi, so after a lot of research, I found the problem with this Jumbo remote control. In fact, it works very well, the only issue is that it often gets stuck during programming. Here’s how to do it:
1st: remove the batteries from the remote for at least 15 minutes
Don't bother with the codes to enter, go directly to the automatic search: hold the code search or set button along with the device button you want to program, the light should be on and stay red, then press the power or off button, the light should now blink. Point it at the television and wait for it to turn off. There you go, the remote control is programmed. If you want to use other methods, you can, but you absolutely must remove the batteries for at least 15 minutes.
