Re, after installing the additional software from the OS DVDs,
a notification informs me that no application is specified to open the document AdobePhotoshop 6.0.1.
I have restarted but this doesn't change anything; could I be a very rare case...?

It seems that the software is not recognized as a Mac application. Was the installation done improperly? Photoshop version 6... that must have been the last version before CS 1? I don't remember the year.
How did the installation go?
You probably need to reinstall the software...

I believe I understand the problem; these applications are in a disk image format or similar, a folder that I could use on another OS 9 system besides mine.
These applications were given to me by my publishing company, and I only have them on the computer that I bought from them.
Is there still a solution...?

Installation issue, sorry for the inconvenience, but thank you very much for the information about Rosetta. Best wishes.

Ok, so after research and information gathered from Apple, a list of compatible software has been published.

I am obviously sad not to find the ones I want to use.

According to Apple, an upcoming update should expand the list...

Hello,

Drakk Oct 11, 2010 at 3:23 PM Hello, I would like to know if, with my new computer running on MAC OS 10.6.4, I can use my software that I used on a Power PC, for example: Adobe Illustrator 9, Quark X-Press 4, and others...? The application appears under OS X, with this information Unix executable file (PowerPC). I would like to be able to use these applications without necessarily having to switch to the OS 9 system, which has been previously set up on a partition. Thank you for your responses.

All these applications exist for Mac OS 10.6

Illustrator:

Quark X Press
https://www.quark.com/

Under Mac OS 10.6, using Classic mode to run software designed for Mac OS 9 and earlier is not possible.

Best regards.

Hi friends, I have an issue with my external hard drive. I have an iMac version 10.8, my folders on Mac work fine, but when I use my external hard drive, it shows me the file extension .Ink and I don't know how to recover my files. I've displayed the extensions and other options, but nothing works. I also have Windows 7 installed with VMware Fusion, and when I enter Windows, it shows shortcut files, but I can just double-click to access the folder. Regarding the Mac, I'm stuck; I don't know what to do anymore. Thank you for helping me.

Hello,

You should have opened a new discussion to ask a question that has nothing to do with the current discussion which started in 2007!

As for the files in question, it is likely that the extension you are seeing is of the .lnk type (with an l like Lucien at the beginning, and not .ink extensions with an i). If that's the case, these are shortcuts usable only by Windows (essentially aliases).

Best regards

Sorry, no username, this is my first time here, I agree with you, but now the problem is, is there a way to open them on Mac because I used to open them normally without any issues, but I don’t know what happened.

Best regards

If the original files, not the shortcuts, are readable on Mac OS, you need to try double-clicking on the original and not the shortcut.

A .lnk shortcut cannot be interpreted by Mac OS.

If the problem lies on the Mac but not on Windows, it means that the .lnk file points to a location for the original that does not match, or no longer matches after copying the files and/or shortcuts to the Mac.

Good evening everyone,

I know this topic is very old, but anyway. Yesterday evening, when I plugged my USB stick into my Mac, which usually displays all my files and folders without any issues, they all turned into Unix executable files.
How can I open them please? It's important.

P.S.: The files are Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, and movies.

Good evening everyone,

I know this topic is very old, but well. Last night when I plugged my USB key into my Mac, which usually displays all my files and folders without any issues, they all turned into Unix executable files.

Good evening,

It would have been useful to know if the Mac is running Mac OS 10.2 or Mac OS 10.12...

I suggest doing a system repair and using Onyx for a launch services repair.

Depending on your needs, check these pages:

System repairs:

If this Mac is running Mac OS X 10.5, follow this procedure:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/15279-entretenir-et-reparer-mac-os-x-10-6-et-versions-anterieures

- If this Mac is running Mac OS 10.6, follow this procedure:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/15279-entretenir-et-reparer-mac-os-x-10-6-et-versions-anterieures
Note: this is a repair done after booting from the installation DVD or using the fsck -fy method if the disk is absent.

- If this Mac is running Mac OS X 10.7, 10.8, 10.9, or 10.10:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/36405-entretenir-et-reparer-mac-os-x-10-7-os-x-10-8-os-x-10-9-os-x-10-10-lion-mountain-lion-mavericks-et-yosemite
This is a repair done after booting the Mac from its recovery partition.

- If the Mac is running OS X 10.11 or higher:

Best of luck
